- Slipstream Blue Hour successfully reignites the magic of retro racing, inviting players to relive the joy and excitement that defined a generation of gamers. While its gameplay may feel repetitive in the long run and may not match the advancements of modern racing games, Slipstream Blue Hour is a charming and delightful tribute to the classics. With its wealth of content, fresh twists, and captivating blue hour-themed tracks, it's the perfect excuse to embrace nostalgia and embark on a thrilling journey through Slipstream's beloved retro world. So buckle up, hit the gas, and let Slipstream Blue Hour take you on a joyful ride back in time.
Mindful Phill · Jul 16, 2023 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Slipstream is a game that feels like a superb homage to the OutRun franchise, while still feeling modern and relevant for our current generation of consoles. The graphics are retro-inspired and this is also true for the sounds and music. Sadly for a racing game, there are no engine sounds and the drifting can take a while to master. Content-wise there will be enough to keep you and a buddy entertained for hours on end, thanks to the twenty tracks, five cars, and six different modes.
MC_JP · May 11, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - The game doesn’t offer a lot through variety of cars or customization options; however, it doesn’t need to. The game is relatively cheap for what is being offered with stunning visuals and audio design.
Ross Hodge · Apr 30, 2022 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Yet, while the game does feel uninspired, the AI is all over the place, and the graphics and music are pretty bland, I found myself looking forward to playing Slipstream every time I picked it up. The main racing mechanics are just plain fun, and while I definitely acknowledge all of the game’s problems and wish they weren’t there, what is there can still be quite a good time.
D. Crowley · Apr 20, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - The gameplay feels great, with those aforementioned 90-degree drifts requiring you to dance on the analogue sticks delicately, and there’s a lightning fast pace to the action which is trance-inducing. The core course design isn’t particularly inspired – you’re either sliding or going straight, with little variation in between – but the tracks here aren’t supposed to rival the Nurburgring: this is pure nostalgia, with scorching synthesisers and optional scanlines.
Sammy Barker · Apr 07, 2022 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - There’s a lot of fun to be had with Slipstream. It’s wonderfully presented, has a good amount of content, and the racing action is fun and intense for the most part. It’s just a shame that the efforts it makes to differentiate itself from Outrun gameplay-wise don’t really have the intended effect.
Richard Seagrave · Apr 06, 2022 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Slipstream’s retro design feels a little by-the-numbers to us (its cool 2D/3D visual effect aside), but that’s not to say it doesn’t pull off the mechanics well. It shouldn’t be the first game in your retro racing collection with the likes of Sega Ages Out Run and Horizon Chase Turbo already available, but if you’ve played through those and are itching for more then you could do a lot worse than this, especially given its modest price.
Chris Scullion · Apr 06, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Slipstream is a fantastic game if you’re looking for a retro-style arcade racer to satiate your nostalgic needs. It knows its audience, and wants to please that specific niche of gamers. It’s a game that proves that solo developer, ansdor, could (and should) be hired by Sega in order to handle a brand new entry in the OutRun series.
Leo Faria · Apr 06, 2022 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Not only does Slipstream play like a retro racer, it looks like one too
A.K Rahming · Jul 23, 2018 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Slipstream isn't bad. It's retro, charming, and design-wise, adorable, but it doesn't hold up for more than maybe 25 minutes of active play before the challenges are completed and the fun ends.

Trailers & Screenshots:
Slipstream is a racing game inspired by the visuals, music, games and cars from the late 80s and early 90s. It's built on a custom game engine, with an authentic retro feel and unique graphics that allows the player to -literally- go back in time. The soundtrack, drawing from synthpop and jazz fusion influences, sets the tone for a race across a variety of exotic locations from all around the world, including cities, deserts, forests, mountains and beaches. Drifting, rewind and slipstreaming mechanics add depth to the driving gameplay, and the result is a challenging and exciting experience.
