- It might be fair to say that an eventual Slayin 3 could be a interesting playthrough, with what the devs could learn from this jump to console. But I have to wonder what happened in the playtest phase to miss the UI navigation issues. You can kill time with Slayin 2, but it didn’t stand out to me above other arcade titles of its kind.

Even more, for its price, it can be considered a steal and therefore a must buy.

Overall it's a package we think is well worth the asking price, something that's brilliantly simple in principle, but reveals its intricacies and hidden difficulty as you play through; it wouldn't be entirely out of place in a late eighties arcade.

This is also how you gain more party members. There are 8 in total to collect and all play extremely differently, boasting individual perks and skills that come in handy both in the single-player story or in co-op.
Aaron Potter · Jun 08, 2020 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - FDG and Pixel Licker could have replicated the original Slayin experience, slapped on a new coat of paint, published on Switch, and called it a day. Instead the studio transformed the rogue-like template into a more substantial role-playing adventure complete with story, side-quests, secrets, unlockable characters, and upgrades aplenty. The core combat mechanic still lacks nuance and a handful of difficulty spikes slow the game down, but in toto Slayin 2 is a solid sequel.
Evan Norris · May 06, 2020 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Slayin 2 was pleasantly surprising. While playing the tutorial, I worried that this would be a mindless hack and slash game with a thick nostalgia filter. I’ve rarely been so happy to be proven wrong. The simplicity of the core concept allowed for the developers to add layers of complexity to the combat and aesthetic beauty to the entire game. The result is one of pure fun: the gameplay and artwork is superb.
