- Slay The Princess: The Pristine Cut is an inverted fairy tale that shatters conventions and questions heroism, opting to pull you into a narrative odyssey that leans into metaphysical themes more than it initially lets on. While its presentation is distinct and superbly executed, extended play sessions can’t help but feel somewhat repetitive due to its recurrent structure. That said, there’s no denying the depth and breadth of storytelling on offer.
Nile Bowie · Nov 01, 2024 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - It might be hard to see now, but ultimately, Slay the Princess – The Pristine Cut is a love story. It’s a twisted and dark one, and it features a gory multiversal tapestry. Yet it’s also one of the best Visual Novels I’ve played all year. Your choices all have consequences, and they’re lasting and real. Combine that with stunning visual and audio design, and you have a must-play adventure that’s almost impossible to put down.
Josh Speer · Oct 28, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Slay the Princess: The Pristine Cut is a fantastic horror game that you will think about weeks after you finish playing, as you will be captivated by the story and message the game is trying to portray. It’s the type of game where you’ll want to close the curtains, dim the lights and binge on for the evening alone or with a friend (if you can agree on options, of course). This is a perfect indie horror title to play during the spooky season and should not be skipped by avid fans of the genre.
Yasmine Hubbard · Oct 26, 2024 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Slay the Princess is a critically acclaimed visual novel that has enjoyed a ton of positive reception, and now it's on consoles with all-new paths, endings, dialogue, and art. It's an excellent expansion of an already-great game that reminds me of The Stanley Parable in the best, most terrifying way possible. However, the user interface and menus still lack refinement and I encountered several technical issues — I have to review the game as it is now, and it's a little rough around the edges.
Zachary Boddy · Oct 25, 2024 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - The Pristine Cut has made one of the best “choices matter” games of all time even better. The new routes weave into the overall narrative perfectly and add more depth to an already excellent game. Black Tabby Games is going back to finish Scarlet Hollow before working on a new game, and I’ve never been so excited to see what’s in the kitchen.
Georgina Young · Oct 24, 2024 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Slay the Princess – The Pristine Cut is a fantastic visual novel with excellent production values and a lot of dialogue options. You’ll go through a tonne of emotions (mostly unease), but you’ll always remain engaged thanks to a great voice cast and a script that is more than happy to explore uncomfortable ideas.
Genghis Husameddin · Oct 24, 2024 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - For the most part though, I found myself enjoying the ride of Slay the Princess. It’s gross, heartfelt, morbid, mind-fucking, and touching all at once, and how much you get out of it will depend on your penchant for the bizarre. Now I need to go lie down and think happy thoughts.
André Custodio · Oct 24, 2024 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Slay the Princess is a narrative experience like no other. The game sharply reacts to your actions, questions, and even thoughts. It will draw you in for hours as you read dialogues and attempt to piece together who lies and who tells the truth. You will find it quite difficult to put the game down once you've started. Everything in Slay the Princess is tied to how YOU see the game, and everyone will understand it in their own way.
Taoshi · Aug 26, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Slay the Princess stands out from the crowd because of its original take on the game story, which rejects the status quo and embraces innovation. Make sure you have enough time and interest in visual novels to the point where you can complete the game.

About the game
Trailers & Screenshots:
You're on a path in the woods, and at the end of that path is a cabin. And in the basement of that cabin is a Princess.
You're here to slay her. If you don't, it will be the end of the world.
She will do everything in her power to stop you. She'll charm, and she'll lie, and she'll promise you the world, and if you let her, she'll kill you a dozen times over. You can't let that happen. Don't forget, the fate of the world rests on your shoulders.
You're not going to listen to him, are you? We're supposed to save princesses, not slay them...
