- Skullgirls is a flashy-looking game that is pretty miserable to actually play. It's combat feels a little too simple, and your success seems determined more by lucky Relic rewards than skill. Add to this the fact that this is a fighting game with no multiplayer component, and there's very little reason to actually pick Skullgirls up.
Campbell Bird · Jun 07, 2017 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - While some might be a little dismayed by the somewhat sexist approach to female characters and the clothes they wear, this is mostly a fighting game that rarely misses a beat. Finally, fighting game fans have the ideal game to take on their daily commute.
Jennifer Allen · Jun 01, 2017 Reviewed onRead full review - I recommend giving Skullgirls a download if you want an awesome mobile fighting game, or if you were already a fan of the Skullgirls.
Christine Chan · May 25, 2017 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - All of the tweaks in Skullgirls Encore are appreciated, with the rebalancing in particular improving upon what was already a great game. There are arguably bigger and better fighters available on the PlayStation 3, but you’ll be hard pushed to find one of this quality in the $15 price range.
Graham Banas · Apr 03, 2014 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Skullgirls' flaws are ultimately outshone by its achievements, particularly in reaching out to new players. It does a better job of making fighting games accessible than any of its competitors, and there's real skill in the execution of its dashing art style. Issues aside, it's deserving of a place in fighting game history.
PC Gamer · Oct 30, 2013 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Even if fighting games aren’t your thing, the music here is exquisite with the jazz and flamboyant tunes. But as a fighting game, being somewhat indie in nature, this is still a solid game that’s easily recommended if you’re in the mood for something aside from the heavyweight fighting games. But those not into the Anime aesthetic will probably be dissuaded with the suggestive character designs.
Owen Chan · Aug 13, 2017 Reviewed on PC, iOS, AndRead full review - Judging it solely on how it lives up to older fighters, I’d say pretty well; judging it solely on its art-style, then the game is nothing short of phenomenal. However, when you bring in the facts that the story line is quite short for each character, the character feel doesn’t differ as much as their visual styles might suggest, and how difficult is to learn to play the damn thing, you realise that the games beauty may well be clouding your judgment.
