- FromSoftware cooked up one of the best combat systems with Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and never did anything like it again. That may be a good thing, as it makes this game one of a kind. If you are a fan of Souls games or a borderline masochist, you will, without a doubt, love Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice because it is a masterpiece. It is a must-play for all hardcore gamers.
nine_toes · Aug 20, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - I absolutely loved my time with Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and I fully plan on doing multiple NG+ runs. The mix of Dark Souls and Tenchu is a concept that I wanted for a long time, and while some concepts and mechanics didn’t come out perfect, it is still a fantastic game.
Jordan Hawes · May 09, 2019 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - More than anything though, Sekiro is a game that I am endlessly thankful for having spent time with the past few weeks. The moments of elation that I have had playing through Sekiro were unmatched not only in gaming but in my everyday life. It provided a sense of joy that comforted me and made me optimistic when I needed it most. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a game I will continue to look back at fondly for years to come because of this.
Logan Moore · Apr 11, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Sekiro is an experience that is akin to a revelation. The joyous sense of freedom in being able to engage and disengage a situation as I effortlessly transitioned between stealth and combat- the feeling of excitement as the awe-inspiring bosses and set pieces set the bar to new heights both in spectacle and design, Sekiro is a masterpiece that will influence future games to come for generations.
Jae Lee · Apr 09, 2019 Reviewed on PCRead full review - With pin-sharp combat, peerless world-building, and masterful movement mechanics, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice breathes brutal and savage new life into action gaming.
Joe Allen · Apr 06, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - I prefer my leisure masochism to be based around exploration and discovery, not challenges of timing and pattern recognition. But I also can’t indict the game for being something it isn’t. I may loathe playing Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, but I also have to acknowledge that it’s wholly committed to its artistic vision and executes it with astonishing care. I may hate that I’m physically incapable of finishing it, but my god do I respect it.
Anthony John Agnello · Apr 04, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a worthy entry into FromSoftware’s repertoire. It’s different, to be sure, and players won’t find any of the interesting multiplayer options present in the developer's other games. That isn’t a detractor at all. Instead, there’s a pure experience to behold, unimpeded by optimized builds, distracting player invasions, and the ability to ask for help from cooperative partners. It’s a game that asks you to succeed on your own and creates an intimate, engaging experience as a result.
Benjamin Maltbie · Apr 02, 2019 Reviewed on PC, PS4, XB1Read full review - Sekiro is an extremely challenging, beautiful game that's very much worth the time to learn. Just prepare to die even more than you probably thought.
Andrew Farrell · Apr 01, 2019 Reviewed on PCRead full review - I had high expectations, but Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice lived up to them. In fact, in some ways it exceeded them. Itâs not a perfect game, but it comes very close. FromSoftware, via Demonâs Souls, Dark Souls, Tenchu, and Bloodborne, has built this beautiful, mystifying, work of art. A work of art that demands your patience, persistent and the application of all of your skill to fully understand and enjoy it. But it really is worth the effort. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is yet another FromSoftware classic.
Matt Eakins · Apr 01, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Although not for everyone due to its difficulty, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a truly great game that will have you coming back for more.
