- At the end of the day, players get a decent collection of Sega games that have had a bit of work done to them. While the “heavy hitters” like Streets of Rage and Golden Axe are absent from this collection, there’s some gems here. There are a few stand outs, and while a majority of them are “play twice and be done” there are some that really stand the test of time, and I can honestly say I will be keeping this collection on my 3DS just so I can jump into Puyo Puyo 2 for a few games.
Drew Leachman · May 03, 2016 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - SEGA 3D Classics Collection a great effort in the annals of archiving game history, but it doesn't exist in a vacuum, and anyone who's already dropped $40-50 on the bulk of the games on this cart may not be so keen to spend another $30 on three titles of wildly varying quality. Still, Maze Walker may not be much fun, but it's never looked this nice. Of course, if you haven't already picked up these games individually, there's no question — this is a must-have compilation.
Jeremy Parish · Apr 27, 2016 Reviewed on 3DS - Sega 3D Classics Collection is a hard release to judge. On one hand, it’s a mixed selection of M2’s fantastic library of classic Sega games reworked for the 3DS. On the other, it offers up stellar versions of every one of those games, which fans will especially appreciate.
Mollie L Patterson · Apr 25, 2016 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - If you’ve ever basked in the warm glow of a Sega arcade machine and wished you could take that experience on the go, then Sega 3D Classics Collection should be right up your alley.
Zachary Miller · Apr 25, 2016 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - It’s a nice package, and the 3D is proof that classic titles from what I consider the golden era of gaming can pop fantastically well on the 3DS.
Kevin Schaller · Apr 23, 2016 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - If you're a lifelong Nintendo fan, you owe it to yourself to see what those on the other side of the console wars enjoyed. You're in for a treat.
Steve Bowling · Apr 23, 2016 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Sega 3D Classics Collection is an uneven package, but nothing outside of Altered Beast is what I would consider a "bad game." With several useful features and 3D effects that actually have effort put into them, it was a joy to play some of these for the first time, while reliving some great memories from others.
Chris Carter · Apr 22, 2016 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - All in all, the Sega 3D Classics Collection offers a great mix of titles to suit the tastes of many. Of course, it’s up to you to decide whether or not these games constitute a home run or not. In the case that only one or two are worth it to you, consider hitting them up via the Nintendo eShop instead. Sega diehards, however, really should pick up the retail release as it comes with a decal sheet of Sega-related logos to help show the world how much you still adore Sega.
Marcus Estrada · Apr 22, 2016 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - I don’t want to be so down on the collection, because M2 has gone above and beyond in its efforts to make these games more than simple ports. Unfortunately, the “classics” chosen just don’t make for a good compilation, and I couldn’t justify getting the whole bundle just for the couple of games worth keeping around.
Jim Sterling · Apr 22, 2016 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Some will inevitable (and rightly) begrudge the lack of games such as Gunstar Heroes, Street of Rage, After Burner II and OutRun, but despite these notable omissions, the first Sega 3D Classics Collection to make it to the West remains an enjoyable and extremely eclectic collection of Sega classics.
