  Fans of rucking and low-scoring grind-fests (should sell well in Gloucester, then) will find something to tolerate here. Anyone else - even the most ardent rugby fan with a huge tolerance for mediocrity - should avoid this like a Courtney Lawes blitz tackle. Ouch.

  Rugby 18 is a solid, workmanlike first effort at what is probably the most difficult sport to translate into a playable video game. It’s not as easy to pick up or as slick as FIFA, but it puts in the hard yards and, for the most part, gets the job done. As a result, Rugby 18 is probably the best rugby game in 20 years.

  Though Eko Software has tried to give virtual rugby a breath of life – and in some ways, with a revamped control and camera system, it has – the lack of modes and dismal presentation leave a bad taste in the mouth. At full-price, Bigben is demanding an obscene amount of money for a game that feels years behind where it should be.

  Poorly presented, and lacking in mode variety, Rugby 18 is salvaged by the fact that it’s actually a pretty decent representation of rugby union on the pitch. It may not be the definitive version of the sport that the PS4 needs, but it’s easily the best available.

  Comme avec Clermont, étiquetée équipe au potentiel affirmé, les aficionados croyaient dur comme fer que ce Rugby 18 irait au bout de ses ambitions et raffuterait tout sur son passage. Mais malgré toute la meilleure volonté, il pue la défaite à des kilomètres. Des couacs graphiques et une intelligence artificielle indigente empêchent cette simulation de jouer autre chose que le maintien dans l'élite. Il faudra du temps et d'autres moyens à Eko Software pour retranscrire toute la richesse du monde ovale et nous immerger au coeur de la mêlée. A condition que le studio puisse se remettre d'un tel tampon...

  Rugby 18 essaie et son envie de bien faire n’est pas à remettre en cause. Cette adaptation sportive récite ses gammes et ses fondamentaux, mais sacrifie le plaisir de jeu et le rythme des matchs. La technique et la réalisation sont à la hauteur du fond de jeu proposé par Eko Software, un vide frustrant.
