  RPG Maker MV provides plenty of tools, but the least possible direction on how to use them. The tutorial is embarrassingly bad, and a help section is nonexistent. Unless you’re experienced with this series, skip this Switch port.

  Whether or not the console version of RPG Maker MV is worth it is a difficult question. It certainly is a powerful tool that opens up a world of possibilities but it also requires a lot of dedication. The logical recommendation would be that you skip this one and that you go for the PC version if you’re serious about designing RPGs. However, lack of cross-compatibility means that any games you create on the PC version aren’t available to play on console. It’s a vicious cycle that can hopefully be broken by an update eventually.

  RPG Maker MV on Switch is a stripped back and limited version of its PC counterpart that removes the ability to integrate your own custom elements as well as the use of plugins. There's also very little in the way of help or tutorials and the UI can be clunky and slow to navigate.

  I can recommend RPG Maker MV for the PS4, but not over the PC version; still, it’s better than not having the title at all, so if you’ve been curious about trying your hand at game-making, let that curiosity get the best of you. Whether it be on PC or PS4, consider getting RPG Maker MV today (in that order).

  As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be an RPG maker, and now I am. Creating games in RPG Maker MV is more of a grind than I expected, but the platform makes levelling up game development skills an enjoyable experience. There are compromises on console, but it’s still recommended for aspiring game creators.

  RPG Maker MV is packed with new and awesome features, but it really falls over when it doesn't tell you how to use them. A good documentation library would definitely bump the score a lot, but I can not give it a better score with the documentation as is.

  RPG Maker MV has everything it takes to make an RPG. However, the complexity makes it unenjoyable and often frustrating, especially for players that are not well-versed in the ways of creating RPGs. It is simply too much effort to create a single map, not because of the work needed to design it, but because of endlessly trying to figure out how to achieve certain goals. While the simple portability of this title, due to the nature of the Nintendo Switch, is definitely a positive, this title cannot easily be recommended to newcomers in RPG creation.

  Esperaba muchísimo más de este RPG Maker MV. En consola es más fatigoso moverse por los menús y escribir, no se pueden añadir elementos propios externos al juego ni tocar el código, pero a cambio podrás iniciarte en el desarrollo de videojuegos desde tu sofá. Le faltan muchos tutoriales y a veces el juego se queda colgado unos instantes, pero como puerta de entrada al mundo de RPG Maker es suficiente.
