- Roving Rogue is a good game that falls short of being exceptional. The game concept is executed well and it controls nicely, but the concept is a bit lacking. The teleportation-heavy gameplay changes up platforming a bit, but rarely winds up being as exciting as it should be. There are some solid ideas at work, but they’re never fleshed out enough to deliver a rewarding experience.
Jeremy Peeples · Jul 24, 2015 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - Roving Rogue has a number of great ideas: its story concept, main gameplay mechanic, and swift pacing are all first-rate. For the first couple of worlds it's a simple, addictive little platformer with tight level design. Unfortunately, the game loses its way by not introducing enough new ideas to keep things fresh, and by relying too heavily on trial-and-error in the back half of the quest.
Jowi Meli · Jul 11, 2015 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - There is potential in Roving Rogue with its unique narrative presentation and teleporting platforming ideas, but it’s squandered by a middling execution. With a glut of superior platformers out there, this is a Wii U eShop game worth passing over.
Neal Ronaghan · Jul 06, 2015 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - Roving Rogue failed to really capture my interest throughout the entire adventure, but from a raw gameplay perspective I had some fun with the platforming bits. You'll enjoy it even more with friends.
Chris Carter · Jul 03, 2015 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - Roving Rogue fails to find fun ways to use its teleport mechanic, which is the only aspect that helps it stand out as a 2D platformer. Only the truly masochistic gamers out there should consider taking a look, while everyone else can comfortably move along and avoid the mess.
