Well-designed maps, two dramatically different sides in the Americans and Japanese, and authentic feeling weapons make Red Orchestra 2: Rising Storm an excellent and unique-feeling first-person shooter. It just needs more players, and a little patience. For $20, it’s one of the best military FPS games I’ve played. I’d say it deserves both.

  • You're looking at the best multiplayer shooter set in the Pacific, and the best WWII FPS since Battlefield 1942. Rising Storm's period-accurate weapons emphasize precision in a way that isn't present in other shooters, and the way danger, teamwork, and a sense of authenticity permeate the experience make it an essential game for multiplayer FPS players.

  • Rising Storm needs a bit more polishing and a few more updates to really shine, but as it stands it's an excellent escape for old-school FPS fans. If you were a hardcore fan of Heroes of Stalingrad, this is basically an expansion in the Pacific with more gameplay you know and love. For everyone else, take a look if you enjoy tactical FPS action once more of the bugs are ironed out.

  • Rising Storm is a great antidote to the - let’s call them ‘console influenced’ shooters out there. It rewards precision and team-work, rather than bunny hopping, quick-scoping and all that other nonsense. With some really strong maps that do a great job of funnelling the action, a varied line-up of classes and the team-focused game-play Rising Storm is a real treat for those who like their shooters large scale and tactical.
