- Resistance 3 fixes the stumbles of its predecessor, reinvigorates the excitement factor, and has exemplary pacing in its single-player (and co-op) campaign. The Chimera are the most terrifying they’ve ever been, while you control the most empowering arsenal yet. The multiplayer is as tight as ever, rounding out a complete package of polish, mood, and adrenaline.
Matthew Keast · Jun 24, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Resistance 3 is held back by issues that lie with both the developer and publisher, but when the problems are weighed against the triumphs, Insomniac's latest comes away with a net win. Its campaign is a thrill ride of rollercoaster-like set-pieces, huge boss battles, and consistently fast-paced action, and its multiplayer is a solid, enjoyable, anarchic complement.
Jim Sterling · Sep 22, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Insomniac Games has once again shown why they are such great developers, and Resistance 3 is more proof of their capabilities. They have crafted a tale that is different from the first two PS3 games, and the story that unfolds in front of you is engaging and enjoyable. Add to this fine narrative some solid visuals and sound, and some very well implemented gameplay, including the adversarial and cooperative multiplayer modes, and you have the first big PS3 game of the holiday season.
Kirby Yablonski · Sep 11, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Overall, the magic of Resistance 3 lies in the fact that it makes you feel like you’re in the heart of a real battle for humanity. Insomniac does this through quality production values, solid level design and effects, and a heart-felt story and personable lead character.
Steven Williamson · Sep 09, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - All in all, Resistance 3 delivers a very enjoyable campaign with some incredible action sequences. Competitive multiplayer is quite well done, and adds quite a bit of replayability to this package. If you're a PS3 owner who loves first-person shooters, Resistance 3 simply shouldn't be missed.
Josh Wirtanen · Sep 07, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - For all its ideas, Resistance 3 remains staunchly old-fashioned, rejecting many tricks of the current FPS trade (you won’t find rechargeable health or a limit on how many weapons you can carry here, though there is a two-weapon swap system) to remain true to more well-trodden paths. There’s a distinct sense of a developer playing to its own strengths and having fun with it; aware of its own ability and keen not to overstretch itself.
Edge Staff · Sep 07, 2011 Reviewed on PS3 - Played alone or with a friend the campaign here is of the highest order, providing an experience that feels different to the competition while managing to finally build on what the series has always had going for it. There's also a substantial, deep and fun multiplayer offering included that will keep many Resistance fans playing for months to come. For me, Resistance 3 is comfortably PlayStation 3's best exclusive FPS.
Tom Orry · Sep 06, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Insomniac has used the extra year in the cooker to make Resistance 3 a game that has everything going for it. The multiplayer, while not the best on the market, is good enough to keep people interested for a long time. However, the single-player (and co-op) make for a game that can proudly stand next to Uncharted 2 as some of the best the PlayStation 3 has to offer. If only people turned off by the first two games give it the chance it deserves.
Anthony Severino · Sep 06, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - It's just one smart system afloat in a sea of increasingly smart systems; evidence that Insomniac Games' system-launching franchise has finally found its footing as a defining brand for the platform. Resistance 3 isn't just a great game full of marked, inspired improvements over its predecessor -- it's a declaration of intent to become the new heir apparent to the sci-fi shooter throne.
Griffin McElroy · Sep 06, 2011 Reviewed on PS3 - The increased emphasis on weapons is clearly the right move for Resistance 3. Trying out different guns and upgrading each is a blast, and there are some fun surprises as the game goes on. Despite some neat boosters and abilities, the multiplayer doesn't do too much to stand out, but the variety and pacing of the campaign makes it the best in the series so far.
