  • If the Switch is your only option to play Resident Evil 6 then this port will have to do, but it’s a shame that the system can’t quite handle how intense the experience is. Still, if you can accept the technical limitations and the lack of horror here then Resident Evil 6 can deliver a really great time, and can finally be looked at as just another fun anecdote in the history of the series.

  • With that being said, I still had my fair share of fun playing this idiotic yet charming game on the Switch. Although it is plagued by framerate issues, it is packed with an impressive amount of content and the arcade-focused Mercenaries mode ended up being a perfect fit for the portable system. It’s dumb and messy, but fun, and now I can experience this lovable stupidity on-the-go.

  • The experience remains largely as flat and as tepid as one might have remembered. It may not be the most forgettable title with the Resident Evil name slapped on — remember Operation Raccoon City…no, anyone? — but it’s arguably one of the flattest in terms of offering up worthwhile moments that aren’t copy-paste’s of other franchise’s notable efforts. Pocketed moments of fun and folly with a co-op buddy aside, there’s little reason to return to the series’ sixth main entry, low price point and all.

  • In some ways it’s impressive that Capcom had the gall to re-release Resident Evil 6 and try to get gamers to fork over money again for the same poorly made product. Hopefully consumers won’t get fooled again as they definitely did the first time around considering that RE6 is Capcom’s 2nd best selling game ever. This is the best version of a very bad, fatally flawed product.

Resident Evil 6 is just one of the three Resident Evil games that are re-releasing on the new systems. While still not my favorite in the series, it’s still a fun action game, especially with a buddy going through it with you. Also, for 20 bucks, you’re getting a giant package. A full 25-30 hour campaign, tons of multiplayer modes, and a really solid looking action horror game.

  • If you have yet to play Resident Evil 6, now is the time to do so. If you have already played it and didn't like it much, this version will not change your mind.

  • It’s not enough to say that Resident Evil 6 is poor as a Resident Evil game. That alone implies there could be a quality experience if fans can get past their preconceptions and feelings of betrayal. No, Resident Evil 6 is poor by the standards of any game, not just the high ones set by its own legacy.

  • What we have here is an incredibly long, incredibly flawed, and yet paradoxically engaging experience. I can't say you should go to Steam right now and pay $40 for this game. But sometime down the line, when you have a long weekend with nothing to do, you might notice it on sale and pick it up. And you won't quite regret it.

  • Resident Evil 6 steers Capcom’s survival-horror series in an even more action-oriented direction – and comes up short in some places as a result. However, if you can forgive the troublesome camera and woeful partner AI, there’s still a lot to like about this third-person shooter.

  • Resident Evil 6 is a truly immense RE title that succeeds as a third-person action shooter, but falls flat on its face as a survival horror game. Yes, times have changed, but if Dead Space can still provide a good balance of scares and set-pieces, then why can't Resi? Here's hoping that Capcom sees the next-generation of consoles as a golden opportunity to take Resident Evil back to its roots. Until then, Resident Evil 6 is certainly not a bad game by any means, and it'll get its slimy hooks into you if you let it.

About the game

Blending action and survival horror, Resident Evil 6 promises to be the dramatic horror experience of 2013. Resident Evil favorites Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield and Ada Wong are joined by new characters, including Jake Muller, to face a new horror, the highly virulent C-virus, as the narrative moves between North America, the war-torn Eastern European state of Edonia and the Chinese city of Lanshiang.
