  • Reigns is the inventive and influential choice-based adventure game that pioneered the Tinder-style ‘swipe left/right’ game mechanic where we’re presented with various scenarios and must select one of two ways to respond.

  • Every card in the game is beautifully illustrated, with a cute art style that contrasts adorably with some of the dark eventualities in this game. Reigns: Kings and Queens is effectively endless and you likely won’t encounter the same story twice no matter how much you play. Given it costs less than $10, you will definitely get your money’s worth.

  • While its short-burst gameplay is perfectly suited to phones, Reigns: Kings & Queens arguably works just as well lying on the sofa with a single Joy-Con. It’s addictive with plenty of depth to its deceptively simple systems, although like the mobile edition, it really is best enjoyed when played in small chunks. After several hours, repetition inevitably dulls its initial appeal, but if you haven’t played it elsewhere, this is a great package that’s well worth swiping right on.

  • I was charmed by the style and presentation of Reigns: Kings and Queens. While the repetition of decisions can slow the fun at times, the quest system gives you something to constantly be trying to figure out. The story goes to enough offbeat places and as long as you’re progressing through the quests, adds in enough small bits of gameplay to stay fresh. Reigns is much more experiential than gamey, but it’s an experience worth checking out.

  • Reigns is incredibly simple but incredibly well polished and full of humour and style. I hereby decree that Reigns should be downloaded forthwith! Swipe right.

  • Reigns is a smooth-running game. Albeit simplistic in nature, this game soon becomes very, very deep, requiring a lot of strategy. It’s also a lot more fun, way more addicting and definitely more challenging than you’d think. A tutorial would definitely help. There are a lot of gameplay elements that just aren’t explained, leading to your untimely death as you try to figure out exactly what to do.

  • Reignsis a ton of fun packed into an ultra-streamlined package, and it's just so goofy and charming that it's hard to put down.

  • Reigns is shrewd and playful, with a straightforward interface and a handful of terrific twists thrown in for good measure. Whenever things risk getting too stale, a new event or set of cards can turn up to keep one hooked, and a single playthrough won’t uncover all the secrets, as well as the ways to meet some grisly fate.
