- Redshirt is thoroughly entertaining, but it wouldn't be nearly as memorable if its goofy satire didn't also have teeth. Sure, I enjoyed the puns and Star Trek references — big, small and truly obscure. And I couldn't pull myself away from the addictive nature of Spacebook. But every time I check out a real-life status update, I'll be remembering Redshirt's digs at corporate culture and life in a cold, anonymous system.
Danielle Riendeau · Dec 12, 2013 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Redshirt is a noble, satirical, and generally successful experiment in social simulation. At its best, it presents a gleefully cutthroat philosophy of human interaction, pushing you to be as terrible as possible within a charming cartoonish parody. It doesn't always manage to hold onto that feeling, but Redshirt has enough unique personality to endure.
Rowan Kaiser · Dec 03, 2013 Reviewed on PCRead full review - While that may sound like it hits too close to home to be entertaining, Redshirt does manage to successfully poke fun at a lot of social media's worst aspects, and it can be good for some genuine chuckles.
Britton Peele · Nov 21, 2013 Reviewed on PCRead full review - For all its charm and ambition, Redshirt can't even come close to realising that goal, and inevitably ends up as a fairly flat and repetitive exercise in meaningless random text and mindless icon clicking. In that sense, it's arguably a perfect simulation of real-life social media, but it unfortunately doesn't make for an edifying game experience.
Dan Whitehead · Jan 03, 2014 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Even if you really invest in the digital people you’re interacting with, there just isn’t enough variety in the gameplay to have a truly enjoyable experience. This is an interesting experimental game, and also an acute demonstration of human manipulation. If nothing else, Redshirt will make you appreciate the power of your online actions.
Ryan Davies · Dec 03, 2013 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Redshirt is an entertaining experimental game with a good dose of humour, respect for all things sci-fi, and it’s undoubtedly a unique concept that’s been executed successfully by The Tiniest Shark. Unfortunately by setting a time limit and creating specific goals the fun of experimenting makes way to repetition and grinding, and while it had me assuredly hooked for the few hours I played it was mostly the speed everything happened at that kept me going rather than any particular enjoyment.
Chris J Capel · Dec 02, 2013 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Redshirt is a charming little game that will make every Sci-Fi fan smile in understanding. Once the jokes and nostalgia glow wear off, however, there’s just not a lot left to keep you playing. Keep an eye on it for when it goes on sale, but for now it’s not worth the asking price.
