- All in all, Reality Fighters has its fun moments, and showing off the AR fighting to a technophobe can be enjoyable, but you will tire of the game incredibly quickly after you realize just how simple the fighting mechanics are, and how little depth the game has. Novarama have done a good job with augmented reality but, for a fully priced game, have failed to create a compelling fighting game that can even to hope to compete with the multitude of finely tuned and incredibly polished fighting franchises out there, many of which are coming to the Vita.

While the game’s underlying technology is impressive, there’s just not enough content to keep you coming back. If you’re a casual fan of fighters and you’re looking for something silly to show off your PS Vita then Reality Fighters is a fun fleeting distraction, but don’t expect anything deeper from the title.

Just like Little Deviants, this easily could have been a free incentive to those who buy the new handheld. Augmented reality on Vita has been proven as a viable tool, so now it just needs to be applied to a more suitable genre than the 2D fighter to truly exploit its potential.

But its fighting game stablemates offer more tactical complexity and depth. Combined with the lacklustre sound design and vanilla mode types, Reality Fighters is an awesome proof of concept but a bland game to play.

In that sense, it is quite spectacularly impressive. Impressive enough to warrant a big purchase and plenty of game time? Probably not. The novelty soon wears off though, and despite a solid combat system, a range of entertaining customisable options, and a few laughs along the way, it’s likely to be nothing more than a time-filler before the real fighting games arrive.

Con su humor excéntrico y su curiosa inventiva a la hora de mostrar algunas de las funciones de esta nueva PS Vita, Reality Fighters consigue divertir, pero sobre todo destaca que más allá de sus defectos logra en gran medida devolver un género clásico como es el de la lucha a un público masivo.
