For every positive Full Frontal Assault musters up, there seems to be a negative lurking somewhere nearby. The exploration is a blast, but the shooting is a bust. Gradually upgrading defenses feels rewarding, but grinding for bolts proves tedious and stressful. In the end, the positives and negative battle to an uneasy stalemate that results in an experience that's simply middling.

  • Where I am concerned is that there is only one multiplayer mode available and the game does get stale relatively quickly. There is no denying that Full Frontal Assault can be an entertaining game in the realm of multiplayer, but with no story mode that fans have come to expect, and a lack of further multiplayer options, the experience becomes repetitive and somewhat boring quite quickly.

  • I’ll concede that Full Frontal Assault is certainly more enjoyable in co-op and competitive multiplayer—but not enough to salvage the experience in any meaningful way. With only a handful of maps, there’s just not enough variety to continue playing unless you’re really into this game’s (subpar) execution of the tower-defense genre.

  • In the final assessment, Full Frontal Assault feels like an experiment that produced mixed results. If I squint, I can just make out the vision of the perfect melding of tower defense and third-person action that the game was meant to be. However, the true image of FFA is a game that feels as though it’s attempting to complete two different objectives, and failing to fully carry out either one.

  • It's unfortunate that there aren't more multiplayer modes; as good as the one here is, you eventually wish for a change of pace from the cycle of recon, squad, and assault. But having your forces lay waste to your opponent's base as you keep his forces at bay with the dance-inducing power of a Groovitron is still a satisfying way to win a fight.

  • Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault is a game that Ratchet & Clank fans need to grab, and a great title on it’s own mechanically sound merits. A very short list of flaws are barely able to tarnish what amounts to a hidden gem among a busy holiday retail season filled with blockbuster AAA titles. And it’s only $19.99 to boot, plus it earns you the Vita version via Cross-Buy when it eventually releases in 2013.

  • Full Frontal Assault isn’t as much of an evolution of the series as it is a fun experiment with its mechanics. Unless the support is there for more maps down the road, it might not be in your regular rotation for more than a few weeks or so. Still, it’s a pretty good bang for your buck whether you’re a longtime fan or not.

  • Overall, it’s fun, but the gameplay can get grindy, repetitive, and frustrating at times. It’s certainly a good idea that had a lot of potential, and at downloadable price it’s really not the worst deal out there. However, it’s not the game that R&C fans wanted to celebrate the series’ ten-year anniversary with. It doesn’t have the story, the action, or the overall feel of classic Ratchet and Clank adventures.

  • Overall Ratchet & Clank Q Force is a worthy addition to the franchise, offering an engrossing gameplay experience and plenty of replay value. This is a must buy for any fans of the series, however, the game does have minor issues, such as a dull soundtrack and repetitive gameplay.

  • Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault is disappointing. It features everything you're likely to love about the series, but there's just so little of each element that I can't help but be saddened by what's happening to the franchise; it really feels as though Insomniac have given up and are moving on. Gone are the days of clever marketing, grand tales spanning across galaxies, and creative weapon design.
