  • Raiden IV x MIKADO is a great title for those who like the bullet hell genre. Thanks to its many modes and different difficulty settings you can tweak the experience to your liking. You probably won’t clear any mode on your first try but you will be rewarded with extra credits to get farther every time you try.

Raiden has always been a shooter for the masses and I love that it continues to be around to this day. It won’t test your skills or reach the heights of others in the genre, but it is always a good time. I love seeing more and more releases in this series dropping for more consoles. I had a blast with this and if you have even a remote interest in the genre this is a must own. Now to sit and patiently wait for more Raiden to drop on consoles this summer.

  • So Raiden IV x MIKADO remix is a tough sell. It’s a no-brainer for hardcore shmup fans. There’s tons of content, and score junkies will get a lot out of it. But to non-hardcore fans, it will be a very generic experience. It doesn’t have unique visuals or gameplay elements. It also lacks the wow factor of a crazy bullet hell shooter. Everything about Raiden IV x MIKADO remix is well-crafted, but it doesn’t focus on being unique at all.

  • Beat the game, and you'll unlock Boss Rush mode (and infinite continues), which helps extend Raiden IV x MIKADO remix's somewhat short longevity, while additional modes, like Score Attack, and the lure of tackling the campaign with a second player, will keep you going for a fair while. Once you've had your fill, however, you'll find little impetus to keep on coming back to Raiden IV x MIKADO remix.

  • Raiden IV x MIKADO Remix looks great on Switch, too, especially if you have an OLED model. The bright colors here pop off the screen, with explosions being particularly impressive. The only problem is, playing in Overkill mode, the screen can perhaps be a little too hectic at times, obscuring enemy projectiles.

  • Yes, Raiden IV is not a typical shmup by contemporary standards, and won’t be for everyone. Equally, all of these modes have been available in some form elsewhere. But as a single package, Raiden IV x Mikado Remix offers the Switch one of its best shooting game releases yet – and that is saying something on a console that has emerged as an unexpected star vehicle for the genre.

  • Thankfully the game isn’t annoyingly difficult, as some other bullet hell shooters have ended up, and there is space to weave your own way through the bullets rather than having to learn and follow exact paths. In fact, slipping by bullets by the skin of your teeth adds extra points to your score.

  • With the addition of extra levels to have a crack at, there is no shortage of content included in Raiden IV x MIKADO remix, and the actual fighting is very good indeed. What makes it better is the inclusion of a couch co-op two player mode; watching a fellow player steals all the best power-ups is quite a lot of fun.

  • Raiden IV x MIKADO Remix is a super fun and challenging game with various modes and the option to play with two players. Add on the amazing soundtrack and beautiful visuals; this is a must-play title.

  • It is fantastic that titles like Raiden IV x MIKADO Remix are still being released. I have always been a sucker for anything Raiden related. What it doesn’t have, unless you have the ability to rotate your screen of choice, is the ability to play in the original TATE mode.
