- Infinite Interactive took what worked in Puzzle Quest and expanded it into an even bigger, longer game. That means if you are a fan of PQ, Galactrix will hook you all over again. The zero gravity puzzle game is slightly more complex, and there is an entire galaxy of quests, mini-games, and characters to get lost in.
Daemon Hatfield · May 11, 2009 Reviewed on PC, PS3Read full review - It’s nice to discover that PQ’s science fiction make-over isn’t entirely cosmetic – it really does improve the feel of the game overall.
Carolyn Gudmundson · Apr 09, 2009 Reviewed on PC, PS3, X360Read full review - Outside of the puzzle action there are even more systems to contend with, such as a faction system that impacts who will attack you and who you can trade with, and a byzantine leapgate map system. Infinite Interactive seems to have lost sight of the approachability that made Puzzle Quest endearing, and Galactrix is simply more demanding than it should be.
Ryan Davis · Apr 09, 2009 Reviewed on PC, X360Read full review - Despite the RPG setup and gameplay twists, however, when it comes right down to it you're solving the same puzzle over and over again. This isn't at all conducive to the marathon playing sessions you'd need to beat this game in a few days. We suggest doing one or two boards at a time, before or after playing other games.
Robert VerBruggen · Apr 08, 2009 Reviewed on PC, X360Read full review - Puzzle Quest: Galactrix should have been every bit as special as its predecessor, but whereas that game's randomness was only a mild irritation when it worked against you, here it ruins the game regardless of whether or not you're losing. It's true that not every battle is decided on luck, but enough of them are that frustration will set in before you're even close to investing the tens of hours that it takes to get through the story.
Justin Calvert · Feb 26, 2009 Reviewed on PCRead full review - the aforementioned niggles are just a minor affair, and as long as you haven’t smoked yourself into a stupor I’m sure the teething issues won’t irritate for too long. You really must try Puzzle Quest: Galactrix as it is one of the best games I’ve played all year. It really is that good. The game is huge, it’s huge and sexy. I’ve spent hours and hours in its company and am a fraction through the main game. Do yourself a favor and check it out. You seriously won’t regret it.
Mike Bowden · Apr 21, 2009 Reviewed on PCRead full review - But for us, the result is a dilution, not a distillation of Puzzle Quest's relentlessly compelling formula. It's a game that drives the franchise too deep into niche territory, where it loses sight of the elegance and simplicity which turned the match-three genre into an everyman phenomenon.
