  • Punch Line isn't for everybody, and this port has some issues, but it's a solid VN with a great story and an endearing cast of characters.

  • The ultimate goal of this is to find a way to get his body back and save the world! And one of the first tasks towards this end is to track down the Nandara Gandara. It’s an ancient Indian text, supposedly located in the Korai House. The writing and diverse plot points are top notch in Punch Line. Kotaro Uchikoshi, the writer for the Zero Escape Trilogy, truly put together something great in this anime-turned visual novel.

  • Punch Line has a completely bonkers but utterly engrossing storyline. Its quirky cast of characters are incredibly captivating and it’s easy to fall in love with all of them. The puzzles are a bit too easy but that just makes it quicker to get back to the thrilling story.

  • It's best to think of Punch Line the visual nove/puzzler as a sort of addendum and guidebook to the anime. Fans of the show get to revisit their favourite characters and scenes in a different format, but everyone else might have a little trouble understanding the appeal. The dirty jokes and fan-service are never in short supply. Still, as long as they have the tolerance for it, viewers might happen upon something special. It definitely helps that the characters and voice-work are fantastic.

  • Yet underneath all that silliness is a wonderful script, bizarre but brilliant puzzles, and a dark undertone which keeps it all from getting too daft. If you're not a visual novel person, this isn't going to sway you. But if you like yourself some well-written anime nonsense, you should definitely check it out.

  • PUNCH LINE fails to engage the player in any way, its play and story lifeless. Navigating its narrative is a chore for far too long, its characters aren’t interesting to listen to, and its puzzles are less about logic and more about patience and experimenting. Fans of the anime may get something out of this, or those with extreme patience for a story, but few others will.

  • Graphically, Punch Line is passable. The character models tactfully look pretty good, but the environments sometimes have stretched textures. The voice work is really well done as well, using the same voice cast from the anime, while the soundtrack is very catchy, albeit a little repetitive. With a fantastic story, great humor, and a fantastic set of characters there isn’t much not to like. Now that I’m done playing Punch Lin.e all I want to do is go watch it’s anime.
