- With its solid physics-based core and seemingly never-ending stream of new ideas, Puddle is a perfectly competent puzzler. There are certainly frustrations to be had, but the variety is often enough to gloss over these issues. A bit more visual and auditory polish might have elevated the experience, but as it stands, the title is a worthy addition to the ubiquitous genre.
Kell Andersen · Jun 01, 2014 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - And while Puddle may have launched on nearly every platform this side of the generation first... it manages to finally land on iOS *still* leagues better than most of the competition. Don’t step-over this Puddle, jump in.
Jeffrey deMelo · Aug 26, 2013 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - If you’re a real enthusiast of tiny bodies of water and other types of liquid, then by all means, you should give this one a try. But if it’s a quality physics-based puzzle experience with an actual sense of purpose and riveting gameplay that you’re after, then Puddle is more likely to make a tiny PLOP! instead of a triumphant splash.
Joe Jasko · Aug 26, 2013 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Puddle isn't for the faint-hearted, given its steadily increasing difficulty curve (even despite the presence of some skip power-ups). Underneath that simple structure, however, is a quite captivating experience, albeit one that will take a while for most average players to reach the conclusion of. Something that's no bad thing at all.
Jennifer Allen · Aug 01, 2013 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - In the burgeoning sub-genre of physics-based, liquid platformers, Puddle is a game that only hits a little more than it misses. The game has some neat ideas, but it never fully realizes them, only offering a taste of what could have been something more expansive and interesting.
Neal Ronaghan · Feb 22, 2013 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - The entire game progresses in this contraption-like manner, adding a sprinkling of adventure to the proceedings. It all feels so aptly fluid, that the few instances where the levels don't gel together are jarring. It's over fast: aside from a laboratory mode that lets you tinker with liquids for as long as you please, Puddle is a flash-flood affair. Nevertheless, there are torrents of fun to be had while it lasts.
Rick Lane · Feb 06, 2013 Reviewed on PCRead full review - What truly shines in Puddle is the quality of its physics. Neko Entertainment having made commendable efforts that, despite grievances with level design, provide an entrancing experience in places. It just proves a shame that other facets detract from an otherwise promising start to their Nintendo eShop presence.
Alex Seedhouse · Jan 28, 2013 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - Puddle is another strong contender for your digital money in the beginning days of Wii U's eShop. It falters when it comes to explaining all of its elements, occasionally stumbles with difficulty spikes and its motion control scheme is best left ignored, but look past these flaws and you'll find a creative, smart puzzler that flows pretty well while offering a fair amount of variety and replay value.
Mike Mason · Dec 07, 2012 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - The frequent frustrations of Puddle mean that only the most patient of players will have what it takes to reach the end. That's a shame, because it presents a fascinating journey through forests and foundries, into outer space and inner space. But each time you find yourself getting fully absorbed in this game's demanding and delicate action, the unbalanced and frequently unfair level of difficulty ripples the surface and snaps you out of the moment.
Carolyn Petit · Feb 01, 2012 Reviewed on X360Read full review - Puddle is dirt-simple by design, but its simplicity betrays a high degree of challenge. When you start to get into the game's later stages, you'll find yourself stuck in some situations that require not just a high degree of perseverance and a steady hand, but also a lot of patience.
