  • It will get you invested. It will make you care. Because when winning isn’t everything and mere speed isn’t the ultimate goal, when you progress by racing well instead of just fast, all that’s left is the joy of learning. That is what Project Cars 3 is ultimately about, what it’s built to deliver, what it’s carefully tuned to create: the joy of getting better at something.

  • While developer Slightly Mad Studios made the crazy decision to turn the simulator franchise into an arcade game, they did seem to have handled it the right way. The game is enjoyable to play, not too hard and with a lot of content, you can spend hours on the race track. Thanks to the upgrades, you can now decide to take your trusty steeds from the low street rank all the way up to GT ranks, all while adding a personal twist to the flavor.

  • Project CARS 3 represents a huge shift in Slightly Mad Studios’ attitude towards racing games. I suppose this means the studio lives up to their name! What Project CARS 3 lacks in realism, it now makes up for with accessibility.

  • A little extra time in development and more inventive ideas would've done this disappointing third installment in a beloved racing series well, but all it did was rehash previous ideas, significantly dumb down many aspects that made its predecessors so exciting, and mash together an incoherent mess of a sim racer that was clearly out for money above a good time.

  • The new driving physics are very enjoyable, the sense of speed is at best dizzying, real-time weather works to a great effect, and there is a lot of offline and online content (and progress between them is mutual). Dozens of tracks to race on come from all over the world, painstakingly recreated from real ones (along with some made-up ones) to maximize their authenticity.

  • While my disappointing experience with Project Cars 3 is clearly colored by my familiarity and enjoyment of the first two entries in the series, I tried to have a good time and managed to find it every once in a while. The guts of a good driving game are clearly here, but the total lack of cohesion in design will likely be off-putting to many in the casual audience Slightly Mad is gunning for.

  • Project Cars 3 will definitely have a place for those wanting a quick and easy racing game with a ton of customisation, cars, tracks and challenges. For more seasoned racing fans, or anyone looking for something even remotely different to what we have seen hundreds of times before, you will definitely need to look elsewhere.

  • All in all, Project CARS 3 is a new attempt from Slightly Mad Studios that doesn’t really fit into the rest of the franchise, but delivers a moderately enjoyable experience for racing fans. The game partially succeeds in being a spiritual successor to NFS: Shift, but in general, the new installment of the Project CARS series feels more like a regression than a true step forward.

  • Project Cars 3 was a difficult game for me to enjoy. In fact, I barely remember myself enjoying it. It was more tedious to play the game every time I tried to give it a chance. I was expecting a bit more from this game and came out disappointed and frustrated. From what I’ve read up online, it seems that Project Cars 3 is vastly different from its predecessors in a way even its fans don’t enjoy. I can’t in good conscience recommend this game.

  • All of the choices and changes that the developers made play off of and compliment one another. Every change made has a reason and serves a purpose. It’s that singular philosophy, that clarity of vision that keeps the game from feeling like a simplified cash grab. Instead, the game feels like a daring departure, one that takes a lot of risks and will probably catch a lot of flak. But for those willing to take the risk, it’s a lot of fun.
