- PES 2015: Pro Evolution Soccer is yet another step in the right direction for Konami – even if it’s again let down by its lack of licensing and complicated online options. Its simulation play is better than ever, and it leads to much more satisfying victories than in EA Sports’ alternative. There’s room for polish and improvement, of course – but this is still a great game.
Greg Giddens · Dec 22, 2014 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - This series is back, no doubt. I feel like dirt for caring so much about league licensing and broadcast presentation when the action PES 2015 offers is this intelligent and well-balanced. ...Things like licensing, broadcast presentation and even menu interfaces may not help a game, but they're much more easily addressed if the rest of the game is fundamentally enjoyable. PES 2015 is. I would much rather play soccer in this game than in FIFA 15.
Owen S. Good · Dec 08, 2014 Reviewed on PS4, XB1Read full review - For the last few years, when people asked you PES or FIFA it was hardly a debate. Now, we finally have some competition again. With gameplay where it’s at now, a little fine tuning and polish -- with some marketing to remind us that the PES series is still around -- could restore the franchise to the dominance of the PlayStation 2 era.
Matt Liebl · Dec 01, 2014 Reviewed on PS4, XB1Read full review - After a few submissive years, Konami has put forth a game that caters to soccer fans with superb flexibility for creative expression, fluid gameplay and astoundingly intelligent AI. ...Unfortunately, these superficial flaws will keep many FIFA players from tasting what is easily a superior experience, but fans who appreciate the beauty, unpredictability, and finesse of soccer will find PES 2015 is what they’re looking for.
Dermot Creegan · Nov 26, 2014 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - So PES 2015 isn't quite the FIFA killer that many may have hoped, as there are many things that the current iteration of EA's footie series does better. Yet the gap has narrowed significantly with PES 2015, and the hardest part of any sports game -- the gameplay and feel of the sport -- has never been better than with this year's installment. That alone makes PES 2015 worth a look for those disappointed with FIFA 15's on-field action.
Scott Marriott · Nov 25, 2014 Reviewed on PS4 - As much as PES may try, it can’t compete with FIFA off the pitch. Licensing issues are prevalent as always, with only Man United officially included in the Premier League, and no German league at all, and as enjoyable as Master League and myClub are, they’re not a match for the all-conquering Ultimate Team.
PC Gamer · Nov 17, 2014 Reviewed on PCRead full review - PES 2015 is a well done game on the pitch, and it doesn't do anything else particularly bad. While Master League needs some improvements, and online play could use a bit of modernizing -- the game itself is an incredible experience after kickoff. The additional licenses and graphical bump of next-gen make the game feel a bit more polished, but there are still rough edges. All in all though, that familiar PES magic is back this year.
Kevin Groves · Nov 17, 2014 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Pro Evolution Soccer 2015 improves on many of the already positive features of the past, while also adding a few. The return of the Fox Engine has provided possibly the most realistic soccer gameplay there has ever been, though the lack of many major licenses in the sport does hurt. While the game may be overshadowed by the now more arcade style FIFA series, Pro Evolution Soccer 2015 stands out as the best simulation soccer game on the market easily and is not one to be missed for true fans of the sport.
Dean James · Nov 13, 2014 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - A triumphant return for PES this year, after spending many years rotting away in the lower leagues. While PES 2015 might not match EA and FIFA’s spending power in terms of licenses and what not, where it matters, on the pitch, this ageing superstar is getting a recall to the first eleven.
Dan Webb · Nov 13, 2014 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - PES 2015's modes are starting to turn the corner, and the gameplay has also made progress, but it's in fits and starts. ...In that sense, this is a great PES with which to kick off the new systems – it retains its heart while staking out vital new directions. It's not the largest of milestones and it has its stumbles, but it already puts the franchise on more firm footing than last generation.
