- Overall, Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is a good game. That said, it hasn’t made me as interested in its sequels (that I’ve yet to play) as I thought it would. If anything, it makes me long for the original with its, if not timeless, nostalgic visuals. But the accessibility tweaks make this entry useful for new players who’ve yet to experience it.
Trevor Gould · Nov 18, 2020 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - We realise it's not a popular outlook. Games should generally be appreciated for what they are rather than blasted for what they're not, but that's very difficult to do in this case. New 'n' Tasty is an acceptable imitation of Abe's Oddysee, but nothing more.
Stuart Gipp · Oct 31, 2020 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty! holds up surprisingly well given its age. Although faithful to the source material, the addition of two-hundred extra Mudokons adds to the game’s longevity and the ability to change the game’s difficulty makes it more accessible to a mainstream audience. However, the core experience isn’t meaty enough to warrant the price of entry. If you haven’t played through Abe’s story yet, it’s worth giving it a try, but only at a discount.
SebastiaanRaats · Oct 28, 2020 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - All Oddworld: New ‘N’ Tasty! managed to do was frustrate me. However, it did make me appreciate the controls in Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee more. Honestly, if you’re new to the franchise, it might even be better to just skip ahead to Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath. At least those gameplay mechanics feel like something more from this era.
Heidi Hawes · Oct 27, 2020 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Overall, Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is a great remake of a classic platformer that feels right at home on Nintendo Switch. Oddworld is perfect for either handheld or docked mode depending on your mood, letting you rescue a few Mudokons on the go or sit down and enjoy the pretty visuals on your TV.
Diego Perez · Oct 27, 2020 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Looking back at Abe’s Oddysee, it couldn’t be clearer how much refinement was done in the action, and how much effort was taken to make it visually pleasing insofar as this world can be. There’s an undeniable charm in its oddness that provides a flavor to this Switch port either way, which makes it easy to recommend. Just make sure to give your fellow Mudokon co-workers a friendly hello.
Joel A. DeWitte · Oct 27, 2020 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty! is a faithful port of an excellent classic remake. If you game with an MFi controller, it's a ridiculously easy title to recommend. In the absence of that option, you need only ask yourself how well you can cope with what is a relatively complex layout of virtual buttons. If nothing else, the controls are better here than they were in the other mobile Oddworld titles. If you were okay with those games, you'll be more than fine here.
Shaun Musgrave · Dec 14, 2017 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - This ground-up remake manages to encapsulate the feel of the twenty year old original and still holds its own against modern 2D platformers - showing how ahead of its time Abe's Oddysee was. Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty is a game that both fans of the series and newcomers alike will enjoy, so pick it up and jump into the strange and humorous land - this game is one of the best platformers in recent years!
Charlie Large · Jan 25, 2016 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - The oddest thing about Oddworld is that nobody's managed to do this kind of game better. An accomplished update of a grotesquely sophisticated platformer that'll turn the stomach of any carnivore.
Edwin Evans-Thirlwell · Apr 01, 2015 Reviewed onRead full review - Taken altogether, New 'n' Tasty still makes the Oddworld experience totally worth it. The game is more charming than it is frustrating; you just have to go into it knowing that it's a bit of a dungeon crawl where you have to keep track of the greater world around you rather than a straightforward platformer.
