- Ninja Gaiden Sigma is an action game like no other. There are similarities with the awesome God of War II, but if you consider that epic as an arcade experience, then Sigma falls somewhere in-between arcade and sim. Getting your head around the combat is key to having a good time. Once mastered, you'll find an immersive action romp full of original challenges, incredible environments and interesting characters.
Gavin Ogden · Jul 02, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Team Ninja classed this game up a little bit, but it didn't fix many of the previous problems that the other port did have, and it added a few more adapting functions to the PS Vita hardware. Regardless, it’s still a competent and clean port, and it's definitely something that long-time veterans would want to have on their PS Vitas.
Timothy Nunes · Mar 21, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - The power of PlayStation Vita can put a home console gaming experience right into the palms of your hands and Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus brings the blazingly fast hardcore action that we’ve come to expect from the series onto Sony’s new portable powerhouse. Whether you’re new to the series or training for Ninja Gaiden III, NGSP challenges you to journey down the deadly path of the ninja.
Christopher Ingram · Mar 05, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - At the end of the day Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus is a fairly good game, plain and simple. There is a lot to test one’s skill, and the game plays pretty darn well on the PS Vita. With solid graphics, good sound, and some very intense and addictive gameplay, the only area that this game suffers is that the camera can be a ‘pain in the ass’ causing you to lose focus, and the touch screen feature should have an off option and as an accidental touch can end up in disaster.
Kirby Yablonski · Feb 25, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - While this faithful adaptation also retains the original's notoriously steep challenge, it does feature a new mode that dials down the difficulty. The campaign's pace feels best when played as intended, but those fearing they'll spike their Vitas in frustration can at least make the punishing play more palatable. Ninja Gaiden's Vita debut also brings new trial challenges, providing pick-up-and-play mini-missions perfect for quick portable sessions, based on content from the campaign.
Game Trailers · Feb 24, 2012 Reviewed on Vita - I think the most offensive thing about Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus is that it just feels rushed. Its low frame rate, frequent (though quick) load times, and its lack of a malleable interface, plus oversights such as an inability to return to the main menu from in-game (the main menu being the only place one can invert aiming or switch from touch to button-based shooting) all indicate a port that was pushed out the door to coincide with the Vita's launch and spur excitement for next month's Ninja Gaiden 3.
Shelby Reiches · Feb 23, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - If you somehow missed the game, it's an action packed sword slashing romp that runs almost flawlessly on Sony's machine. You could even make a case for it being one of Vita's top three launch games. With praise like that, you owe it to yourself to experience this highly regarded title.
Chris Buffa · Feb 22, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Sigma Plus looks gorgeous on the Vita. Silky-smooth animations make the brutal combat captivating, and though the environments look a bit sterile by current standards, solid art design gives the varied regions you explore an exotic sense of history. More importantly, the fast, intense, challenging combat is as exciting as ever. With its lengthy, consistently thrilling campaign and a slew of ninja trials that really put your skills to the test, Sigma Plus certainly gives you your money's worth.
Carolyn Petit · Feb 21, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Even having played this game many times, Team Ninja's work on it still stands up nicely. Say what you will about the camera or the silly story, but the combat in Sigma Plus is unmatched. There's a fantastic action game under all of the name changes and feature additions that have been tacked on over the years. Aside from the non-optional rear-tap Ninpo addition, the new Vita features aren't even worth messing with.
Dale North · Feb 20, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - The actual meat and potatoes of the game also feels dated, but much less so than the save system or horrid camera. There are still hours of great gaming to be had with Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus. And the combat still reigns supreme as some of the best, if not the best, in the action genre. A skillful mix of guarding, dashing, jumps and well-timed attacks are necessary for success. But unfortunately, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus is far too much Ninja Gaiden Sigma and not enough Plus.
