- Niffelheim is the mobile port of a PC survival action RPG rooted in Norse mythology where we explore, mine, craft, trade, and then build up and defend our budding citadel from undead invaders. Our goal is to survive until we’ve gathered enough fragments to finally enter Asgard for our well-deserved eternal rest.

The moment-to-moment survival gameplay is serviceable and fun at times, but the whole experience is bogged down by a number of mechanical issues that ultimately bring down the adventure.

With plenty of other good crafting action-adventure RPG games on the Switch, Niffelheim just failed to hold my attention. If you are looking for a crafting game with a large learning curve and have time to learn it then Niffelheim might be for you.

With a superb art style and intriguing story, players will find they can put a lot of hours into this game and they’re going to need it. Being a little grindy the game will find homes with many players and received good reputation on PC builds.

Initially, it'll take quite a while to feel productive as the resource grind is a bit real. 2D might be appealing to some or might be a turn-off for veteran players coming from a lot of the 1st and 3rd person survival games out there.

It's a shame because in many the world begs to be explored and discovered. If you can stomach the grind then I do think there is some charm in this 2D side scroller RPG. However, for the average player, it's going to be tough to see base the deery combat and farming.

It’s quite possible to get to a point where you have to partake in a battle you aren’t geared up for, and constant deaths really start to irritate, particularly if you are fighting in the depths of a dungeon and have to make it all the way back to the boss before trying to pick up where you left off.
