KiKiToes · Nov 10, 2024 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Engaging and approachable, New World: Aeternum mostly nails the modern MMORPG experience with its refined and cohesive game world and intuitive combat system. Crafting and gathering remain a highlight here but all types of players will find this game worthy of its upfront price of admission. That said, those looking for a wide range of high-end raiding content will be better served elsewhere and the game also suffers from an unfocused and muddled art style.
Alex Whitelock · Nov 08, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - The graphics are colourful but not particularly outstanding for the big consoles. And the audio is a bit cheesy, particularly with the spoken chatter, but does the job well enough. But this reworking of a PC hit makes it a highly approachable, massive role-play action title that is as welcoming to new players as it is MMO experts hell-bent on sinking hundreds of hours of gameplay in. The fighting is fun and the world building is extensive. Well worth a look.
Tom Hutchison · Oct 29, 2024 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - If you are new to MMOs then New World Aeternum may be the perfect jumping off point for you into a New World. An approachable, satisfying experience that could well give you the bug for this beloved game genre.
TONY COLTON · Oct 25, 2024 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - New World: Aeternum is a high-quality MMO experience, and the transition to PS5 has been smooth. With a focus on action combat, gorgeous visuals, and a free-form, classless levelling system, even castaways on a deserted, haunted island would be hard-pressed to do and see everything it offers.
Gh0Stcrawl3R · Oct 22, 2024 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - New World: Aeternum has made some great changes in time for its console release, and while the endgame might not have too much to offer yet, the leveling process is plenty of fun, especially if you go deep into the crafting system.
Joelle Daniels · Oct 22, 2024 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - New World Aeternum struggles to be worthwhile for many players. The MMO genre is stuffed with excellent dug-in titles that are difficult to pull players away from for long, just as the original release of New World saw. With its unimpactful combat, lackluster story, and its most interesting content only being accessible to the most dedicated of players, this spiritual successor just doesn’t mix it up enough.
Arron Kluz · Oct 22, 2024 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Not a remake, not an action RPG, but definitely a very refined MMO experienced tailored to be inclusive to solo and console players, New World has received a major shot of accessibility with the release of Aeternum. With a welcoming community, a refined story, and some very fun crafting mechanics, there is a lot of material here to dig into and enjoy. If you are looking for a new title to sink 1000 hours into, you could do far worse than this one.
Eric Hauter · Oct 21, 2024 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - While Aeternum doesn't do anything to avoid the pitfalls inherent to the MMORPG genre, it lessens their impact with flexibility and smart multiplayer mechanics. The Grind falls to the wayside while dynamic, fast-paced gameplay takes center stage. Married with a setting that diverges from MMO predecessors, New World: Aeternum offers an experience that will keep players invested, and enjoying the whole ride.
