- Sitting in a vehicle moving along a set path as you take photographs might not seem like much fun, but PokĂŠmon Snap quickly proves to be a highly enjoyable, if short-lived, experience. The quest to find a few more PokĂŠmon or score better to open up new stages or get a useful item keeps you engaged for the game's brief duration and the variety of creatures and their actions keeps things interesting when replaying stages. There are only 63 PokĂŠmon to find, and it can be cleared very quickly, but there's plenty of opportunity for new and improved (or funnier) photos with each playthrough.
Dave Frear · Jun 24, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Even if you’ve finished New Pokémon Snap’s main story, this update is worth returning to the game for, if only for a few hours. The new routes add plenty of content and seeing the familiar faces of fan-favorite monsters never fails to put a smile on our faces. Hopefully, this free update bodes well for the future of New Pokémon Snap, as revisiting the Lental region months after ‘finishing’ the game left us wanting more.
SebastiaanRaats · Aug 12, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - The interactions between Pokémon feel natural and while they do things that no animal equivalent does, I think that makes them all the more interesting. New Pokémon Snap is like nothing else on the market and proves that this spin off series should have never been gone for this long.
Anthony Mann · Jun 24, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - New Pokémon Snap is the perfect blend of nostalgic and modern, accommodating for the fact that Pokémon is so much more now than what it was over 20 years ago. Just as the series has developed a life all its own, New Pokémon Snap gives the Pokémon, region, and cast the polish they need to truly shine.
Niki Fakhoori · May 29, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - New Pokémon Snap sees Pokémon at its most visually stunning, giving the titular creatures the level of animation and care that they deserve. For the first time in recent memory, the starring Pokémon feel less like interchangeable party members and more like living, breathing creatures. Yet sadly, a bafflingly arbitrary scoring system and entirely unnecessary XP grind quickly replace fanboy delight with empty repetition.
Tom Regan · May 15, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - It feels like I’m being asked to prove I deserve to play more of the game I fell in love with on the Wii’s Virtual Console by finishing a huge stack of work first. For a game that seems so determined to relax the player, I feel like they forgot to consider that there’s a fine line between relaxation and boredom. New Pokemon Snap didn’t have to bore me, and that’s what makes it all the more frustrating.
James Galizio · May 14, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - New Pokémon Snap is a delightful revision of an N64 icon. The new region is beautiful and invites you to engage with Pokémon you know and love in different ways, with a unique type of challenge.
Kirstie Summers · May 14, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Overall, while New Pokemon Snap won’t be for everybody, there was a surprising amount of content, plenty of fantastic moments and a wonderfully crafted world. For anybody looking for a zen game to kick back to and forget about the worries of the world, I can’t recommend this one highly enough.
Sam Woods · May 14, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Many fans have been waiting for a Pokemon Snap sequel since their childhood, and while it may not exactly be what they imagined, it's a solid experience and highlights what has been sorely been missed in the franchise. New Pokemon Snap is a worthwhile sequel, a relaxing journey through the Pokemon world, and fun to play in the comfort of one's home or on the go.
Joshua Duckworth · May 13, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - New Pokemon Snap captures the magic of the Pokemon series with dazzling visuals and so much content in each level. It's just short of being perfect, were it not for a few small quirks.
