  • If I had been blindsided in Neurovoider after investing hours into a character, the second half of this review would have been dedicated to giving advice what best to do with the pulverized remains of a Nintendo Switch Joycon. Instead, I simply shrug my shoulders and look forward to checking out the newest guns I have yet to test, hoping my next build will be the doombringer to those swarming little jerks.

  • NeuroVoider is a great addition to the Switch, both providing a challenge for a single player while also being a great party game. The loot customization adds a hook to keep you playing and killing more monsters, while the procedural generation makes sure you always have new levels and loot to look for.

  • NeuroVoider‘s overall look is decent, with smooth frame rates and crisp retro aesthetics on both in TV Mode and Handheld Mode. The many obtainable parts of your robot all visually complement each other with their basic but fluid animations. The music by Dan Terminus really does stand out and fits perfectly with it’s 80s style electro synth beat, giving you that sci-fi B-movie feel that goes hand-in-hand with its art design.

  • Everything about NeuroVoider just feels good. As a fan of the RPG genre, I love how strategy based thinking has been perfectly mixed with heart pounding action. The biggest concern with Rougelike permadeath is avoiding the feeling of staleness and there is no concern of that here. For one of the best Indie experiences on the Switch so far, the small investment into learning the complexity of the inventory system is more than worth it.

  • NeuroVoider is a twin-stick shooter RPG set in a cyber futuristic world about brains shooting around evil robots with nuclear rocket launchers. Boost your character with the smoking remains of your victims and defeat the master NeuroVoider to end this eternal war. Play it with up to 4 friends, or go alone in an adventure of hack'n'slash rampage, with a pinch of rogue-lite, and some permadeath.

  • Neurovoider expertly blends shooter and RPG elements, delivering concentrated blasts of arcade mayhem followed by a brief strategic respite. It’s tough, yes, but failure is rarely frustrating and you’ll end up jumping right back into the fray. Noisy, tough, but ridiculously entertaining, Neurovoider will have you praying for the robot apocalypse.

  • As a challenging indie title which offers a good chunk of replayability, NeuroVoider is certainly worth some of your time. Know before you make the purchase that you’re going to be shooting, shooting and more shooting, though, and you should be able to take advantage of it in quick bursts thanks to its pick-up-and-play nature. It’s not a cheap one at £12.99, but it’s an indie game you ought to give a chance.

  • While the idea of a roguelike RPG shooter might sound like a bit of a mish mash, NeuroVoider is an immensely enjoyable experience if you want to invest time in the customisation or just go in arcade style, all plasma cannons and laser beams blazing.

  • All in all, NeuroVoider is an excellent twin stick roguelike. The Switch is the ultimate portable indie machine, and polished ports like this one show how much fun and how engaging the right titles are even if they’ve long been available on the PC.

  • With an excellent USP for co-op the Switch is fast becoming the true Indie darling, and the real successor to Sony’s ill-fated Vita, and it’s really not hard to see why. Bringing NeuroVoider to the Switch was a real no-brainer for Flying Oak, it’s a good slice of rogue-like action for this terrific machine.
