- At its core, NBA 2K18 is excellent and incredibly fun to play. It’s also heaped-full of features. You might not like them all, but there’s a mode here for everyone. It’s a massive achievement of a Switch port that should be lauded, however, the microtransaction-heavy game modes may leave a sour taste in your mouth.
Simon Burr · Dec 01, 2017 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - For those who took our previous advice to hold fire until we were happy the game wasn’t a broken mess, you can finally pull the trigger: NBA 2K18 may not have been a great sports game at launch, but it’s certainly one now. This is effortlessly the best basketball game we've seen on a Nintendo system in years, and a must-have for Switch-owning sports fans.
Chris Scullion · Oct 13, 2017 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - The Switch version of NBA 2K18 is rough around the edges, but the strong collection of core modes that make the game a perennial contender from sports game of the year are all here. Despite the drop in graphical fidelity, connectivity headaches when in handheld mode, and barren online modes, you’ll have a hard time finding a better basketball sim experience.
Matt Bertz · Oct 06, 2017 Reviewed on - Overall, NBA 2K18 is a solid title but does little to improve overall, featuring relatively the same experience as years past. Though the MyCareer and MyLeague modes are addicting as always, they also feel the same as always. The improvements of the series, while small, are still noticeable in the form of Neighborhoods as well as the welcome addition of the “All-Time Teams”.
Michael Chow · Sep 26, 2017 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - When NBA 2K18 is considered on the whole, it represents another significant step forward in terms of a realistic, authentic and rich basketball experience. There’s still room for improvement — the disappearing undershirts, pick your own country, and maybe even a slightly more forgiving teammate rating in rookie mode — but on the whole it’s the best NBA experience you can have for mobile.
Nik Ives-Allison · Sep 26, 2017 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - NBA 2K18's microtransactions are disappointing but if you can ignore that, you have a basketball game that is a ton of fun to play.
Rashid Sayed · Sep 25, 2017 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Of course, it’s no surprise that NBA 2K18 looks good; the series has looked the part since its advent on the Dreamcast, staying relevant visually and staking out its own part of basketball culture. NBA 2K18 continues the trend, capturing the feel of basketball’s urban centers in The Neighborhood.
Matt Paprocki · Sep 24, 2017 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - NBA 2K18 is yet another astonishingly good basketball game that delivers on the hardwood and in the suite of inviting modes on offer. Resist the urge to shell out for Virtual Currency and you'll be fine. Just focus on the great game at NBA 2K18's core, because it really is at its best this year.
Richard Walker · Sep 24, 2017 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - The upcoming NBA season may be growing stale in its predictability, but fortunately for gamers, NBA 2K is suffering no such fate, pushing the series forward in new and exciting ways.
Sam Spyrison · Sep 21, 2017 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - NBA 2K18 is a game of min-maxing. You can play just the most casual way possible with quickplay, go deep into management with MyGM, or live out your hoop dreams in MyPlayer. I love that there’s such freedom of choice, and that the actual on-the-court action is so smooth is just icing on the cake.
