- It doesn’t mean much due to it having no competition the past couple of years but NBA 2K13 continues the series’ dominance in the basketball sim genre. My Career is enough to keep you enthralled for quite some time, and with all the other features crammed on the disc you certainly won’t be left wanting. The intricacies of real basketball are all there, and pairing that with the killer work Jay-Z has put into wrapping it up in the appropriate vibe has created a killer package that hoops fans won’t want to pass up.

It's smooth and slick enough to be enjoyable even for those who don't know their alley-oops from their elbows. Gorgeous, immersive and packed with game modes, NBA 2K13 is one poorly designed keyboard setup away from b-ball glory.
PC Gamer · Dec 12, 2012 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Ultimately, NBA 2K13 on the Wii U is a blast, if not for all the reasons you’d expect. Using the GamePad screen to play gives the best experience and also frees up the TV for other use, which has proven to be an unexpected bonus of the Wii U overall. If it weren’t for the choppy framerate of the standard game modes, NBA 2K13 would be a contender for the best sports game on the platform.
Rich Grisham · Nov 27, 2012 Reviewed on X360, Wii URead full review - It’s both scary and exciting to think how good a game we might get if NBA 2K actually had a serious competitor pushing it to new heights. But even when left with a clear, unobstructed path to the basket, 2K13 throws down a monster jam with this year’s edition – probably the last one developed solely for this generation of consoles. It’s obviously the best hoops game out there, and it might even be the best sports game of all, period.
Ryan McCaffrey · Nov 19, 2012 Reviewed onRead full review - NBA 2K13 is a brilliantly fun basketball game and one for all basketball fans to pick up. Casual sports game fans should also pick this up as it’s good to play against others. Sure there are a few things 2K can improve, like the menu interface and the inclusion of a tutorial, but once you get a hang of it NBA 2K13 is a great experience.
Aran Suddi · Nov 17, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Overall presentation enhances the you-are-there factor even more. Much of the visuals and sound seem to have been carried forward from last year, but that doesn't make it any less impressive. Graphical detail is incredible. Players are almost photo-realistic, and they come with animations that almost perfectly mimic what their counterparts do in real life. Watching Kobe drop one through the hoop while falling down and then fist-pumping over the shot and the foul looks exactly like something you see at Staples a bunch of times every winter.
Brett Todd · Oct 12, 2012 Reviewed on PS3, X360Read full review - Since NBA 2K13 remains the only basketball sim on the market, I'm glad that it's another great entry in the franchise. It's not just a joy to play; the surrounding elements elevate it to something that's clearly aware of its place in the context of the NBA itself. NBA 2K13 sits at the intersection of basketball and hip-hop culture, and Jay-Z's production sensibilities marry the two beautifully.
Samit Sarkar · Oct 12, 2012 Reviewed on X360Read full review - With no real competition in the NBA video game arena, 2K Sports could have phoned this one in and still dribbled away with a boat load of cash. Instead, they took a well designed NBA 2K12 and polished it up, threw in a few more needed additions, added some bells and whistles, and finished what could possibly be the Sports Game of the Year.
Louis Edwards · Oct 11, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - NBA 2K13 scores big once again, although it fails to offer little in the way of sweeping changes or innovations. It's still the undisputed daddy of basketball games, but we'd have liked to have seen more ideas being brought to the hardwood.
Richard Walker · Oct 11, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - NBA 2K13 wants to look greatness in the face and laugh. This year all the stops have been pulled out and the road not taken is currently been walked on by one of the baddest—that is, the best—basketball games to ever come to town. Sure, there are plenty of areas that aren’t so great, but the completeness of it all will have you satisfied for months and still leave you screaming for more.
