  Ultimately, Muv-Luv is a very solid package that sets the stage for something exceptional, and Muv-Luv alternative is the perfect crowning for an emotional rollercoaster that will shake you up harder than the cockpit of a TSF at full running speed. You probably won’t need a barf bag (you’ll understand what I mean when you play Unlimited), but I won’t make promises.

  What you are here for is the titillation, and to pretend otherwise would be a joke. There is more than enough to keep a fan occupied, despite the long wait for events to reach their climax. Muv-Luv Alternative is a great title within the genre, as it explores some really interesting sci-fi and political ideas. But at the end of the day you are mainly along for the ride for unsavoury reasons, and that can sometimes eat into the seriousness of the plot. I mean, just look at those uniforms!

  I can understand and believe that quite easily, since I’ve been repeating myself throughout the review of how much the first title is overshadowed by the second one, and I imagine the same will happen when the third is released. If you’re willing to invest the time in three lengthy visual novels, finish these two off early, so you can enjoy what is touted as a great third entry (which I’m excited to see) released later this year.

  Muv-Luv is a fun and enjoyable experience that can pass the time with its funny dialogue, its sci-fi element and the many moments you have with the main character and his friends. There is also the music in-game which can get overlapped by the dialogue, but that is how a novel is meant to be played. This is an enjoyable game and is a game that has two different ways to play, sci-fi and high school life; so there is something for everyone to enjoy in this game.

  Muv-Luv is an unusual game. There is a huge disconnect between Extra and Unlimited and it almost feels like Extra didn’t happen. The game leaves you with a deliberate sense of longing, as it thrusts you from the happy-go-lucky, innocent story of Extra into the harsh reality and loss off innocence that is Unlimited. It makes for a jarring juxtaposition and as meaningless and irrelevant as Extra feels, it seems to exist for this purpose only; to convey the feeling of loss.

  Honestly, as a book, Muv-Luv is fairly solid with a decent idea and capable writers backing it up. It doesn't reach its full conclusion but that's because there is a third game waiting in the wings, and the provided endings are just fine. About the only 'real' complaint that can be had is that its duel-story style can end up feeling needlessly taxing at times, resulting in irritation instead of enjoyment.

  Et malgré un design assez vieillot, le jeu bénéficie d'une mise en scène très travaillée, avec de nombreux détails affichés à l'écran. Si vous n'êtes pas repoussé par l'aspect fleur bleue de Muv-Luv, vous tenez là deux jeux qui pourront vous offrir de très nombreuses heures de lecture (en anglais) à la plage cet été.

  Muv-Luv è un'ottima visual novel, a patto che si accetti la particolare natura della storia che racconta e che si sia pronti a leggere anche l'episodio Alternative quando sarà pubblicato, così da concluderla e comprenderla fino in fondo. Per il resto c'è poco da aggiungere a quanto detto nella recensione, comprese le note sul mediocre adattamento, che farà storcere il naso soprattutto ai puristi.
