  • Morphite is a story-driven space exploration FPS adventure that has us travel through the universe to engage in space battles, explore new planets, study plant and animal life, and solve mysteries about ancient civilizations.

  • Morphite does a lot of things right. It’s just a shame that it also does a lot of things wrong too. It does a good job in giving the impression that you are visiting many different worlds, but sometimes these areas feel quite empty which is something that has been said many times for a game of this type. My biggest gripe is the combat and aiming system and if that’s something that you can get over, then you will find a surprisingly deep and enjoyable game here.

  • Morphite is a game with high ambitions and while you can see many of the elements needed to meet them not everything gels fully across the board. The low-poly environments can certainly lack detail and textures but that shouldn’t mean that so much of the space you explore is barren.

  • Morphite isn't a bad little first-person adventure but thrill seekers looking for a stop gap before Metroid Prime 4 could end up feeling short changed; rather than cause your pulse to race this jaunt through the uncharted regions of the universe is quite laid back and curiously lacking in excitement. It ranks as an enjoyable - if sometimes pedestrian - adventure that you will ultimately get as much out of as you are willing to put in, but we fear a great many players will simply lose interest.

  • Morphite is a game with exactly as much depth and complexity as you want there to be. If you’re a completionist, you can explore every corner of every world, scanning and salvaging until you’re rich. If you just want a satisfying story, you can stick to the fifteen planets wherein that story takes place.

  • What you end up with is a sci-fi exploration title that is, ultimately, dull. There's barely anything going on in Morphite. Once you’ve beaten the story and upgraded your equipment, there’s very little reason to go back to previous locations, and new ones are too similar to offer any meaningful extended play. Myrah’s adventure may pique the interest of genre die-hards, but the limited scope of the game makes it difficult to recommend.

  • Morphite is the type of game that I can’t help but love despite having a surprising amount of flaws. It can be frustrating from time to time – more often than I’d like, admittedly – but I’m willing to put up with it because, dang it, I can’t get enough of exploring planets, discovering useful items, and upgrading my stuff. There’s enough right here that I think it’s easy to overlook what’s wrong. If you like sci-fi exploration stuff, I think it’s definitely worth checking out.

  • As beautiful as Morphite may look on the surface, it's innerworkings are pretty ugly. The entire game just feels kind of empty and lifeless, and nothing in the gameplay, story, or aesthetic do anything to inject much life into it. It's a real shame that such a cool aesthetic is wasted on such a dull game.

  • Overall, Morphite is an excellent game that is worth a download for any iOS gamer. The graphics are stunning, the music is delightful, and the game world is immersive. Controls do take some time to get used to, but can definitely be streamlined in a future update.

  • Even with its hodgepodge of tiny planets, the game may have done better to shrink its size to an even greater degree and focus on that which makes up the majority of the experience, away from the silly jokes and entertaining banter of Myrah and Kitcat.
