- I found myself going back for one more quest or trying to farm specific items for just ten more minutes far too often, and the game is as tremendously addictive as any of the other titles in the series. Still, it’s difficult to classify this addiction as a particularly entertaining one and while the game kind of took over my life, I wouldn’t classify what I was feeling as “fun”.
Nikola Suprak · Apr 09, 2013 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - In order to fully experience and enjoy Monster Hunter, there is a considerable amount of commitment required. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate does little to ease in new players or entice those that aren’t already fans.
Jason Oestreicher · Apr 05, 2013 Reviewed on Wii U - This is a game with a high barrier of entry, occasionally frustrating play, and poorly explained, byzantine mechanics, but there's nothing like taking down a gargantuan Rathalos, dodging its fire breath, poison sting, and sweeping dive attacks, knowing full well that fifty hours ago you wouldn't have come close. There's a certain thrill in saying: Yes, I have mastered this.
Jonathan Bolding · Apr 02, 2013 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - It doesn't take much digging to see the many areas in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate still begging for refinement. I wish a quarter of my time hadn't been spent wading through such a poorly thought out introduction.
Philip Kollar · Mar 30, 2013 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - There's a staggering amount of content that more than justifies the asking price, and we'd like to think hardcore fans won't have too much of a problem with the graphics. At the same time, and considering the resolution gap between the 3DS screen and competing platforms, this title does more harm than good.
Chris Buffa · Mar 29, 2013 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - This is a game that will force you to learn from your mistakes, lest you repeat them and achieve the same failure as before. While the visuals are far from stunning and the online lacks any sort of host migration, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is one of the best and most rewarding experiences in a long time, and will certainly keep you busy for a while.
Patrick Hancock · Mar 20, 2013 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is a must-have purchase for anyone who likes challenging gameplay, big weapons, even bigger enemies, a hefty crafting system, and a satisfying cooperative experience.
Sean Engemann · Mar 20, 2013 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - Whether you're playing online or solo in your home village, Monster Hunter exhilarates and excites with the same kind of thrill you'd get from climbing a mountain or conquering a fear you never knew you had. It might not be the prettiest game, but it succeeds in tying your emotions to the action on screen, whether that means dashing your excitement in a narrow defeat or encouraging you to pick a bigger fight after an illustrious victory.
Daniel Bischoff · Mar 20, 2013 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Ultimate, like its predecessors, is an idiosyncratic game.
Edge Staff · Mar 19, 2013 Reviewed on Wii U, 3DS - This is a top notch game that offers dozens, if not hundreds of hours of gameplay....
