- MLB 10: The Show's improvements since last year's version are more skips than strides. Online play is better but still needs work, there are no meaningful updates to the play mechanics, and the game modes are essentially the same, save for the home run derby. Factor in some occasional freezing glitches, and you are left with a game that struggles to clear the high bar set by the previous installments. Given the franchise's near impeccable record, it's hard not to expect more.
Game Trailers · Mar 31, 2010 Reviewed on PS3 - Growing up I dreamed of one day playing baseball in the MLB. While I am still waiting on that call, MLB 10: The Show is the closest you’ll ever come to experience playing baseball for a Major League Team. The sheer polish and level of detail mostly overcome the share of problems that hinder it. They don’t stop this from being one of the years best sports titles and the premier baseball game for PlayStation 3 owners.
Thomas Williams · Mar 23, 2010 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - While MLB 10 The Show remains the best baseball videogame money can buy, it’s no longer light-years ahead of 2K Sports’ effort. Is it better than MLB 09? Definitely, but not by a wide margin. I’d certainly still easily recommend it to PS3 owners, since they have a choice between it and MLB 2K10, but if MLB 11 doesn’t vastly improve upon this year’s regrettable online offering, we may very well have a competition on our hands in 2011.
Samit Sarkar · Mar 22, 2010 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - The Show is so gorgeous, so tempting, so…..freakin’ hot that it’s almost a sin how tough it is to win games consistently. Hitting doesn’t seem quite so punishing as last season, but it’s still the most intense 27 outs you’ve ever sweated through. To succeed at the plate, you must be disciplined and stick to your guns every at-bat; getting sloppy or impatient will get you sent back to the dugout in a hurry. Even good contact is often rewarded with a line-drive out or warning-track fly ball. In other words, it’s incredibly realistic – which may be too much for some.
Rich Grisham · Mar 15, 2010 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - It's not hard to level complaints at MLB 10: The Show, but that's because the fundamentals of the game are so good that the bad points really stand out. There is room to make things better, especially given the online bugs, issues with pitching, problems with computer batters, and the too-long load times in Road to the Show. Nevertheless, this is still a great game that gets both the big and small pictures largely right, as well as presents a portrait of baseball that is uncannily realistic.
Brett Todd · Mar 10, 2010 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - On the field, The Show is top-notch. I absolutely love the mechanics and the battles between pitcher and batter. Little was changed, but really, little needed to be changed. Visually, this is a real stunner. Great animations, nice stadiums, the player's look and feel right. And this is as full a feature set as anyone could ask of a baseball game from the deep and engrossing Road to the Show to a ridiculously in-depth Franchise mode to Online Season Leagues. MLB 10 has it all! But it also has some issues. It's impossible to look past the poor trade AI or the odd decisions from your manager that weaken Road to the Show.
Hilary Goldstein · Mar 03, 2010 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - When you find yourself wondering which player messed up the batters box chalk the most, you know that Sony’s years of iteration has paid off. The little details are in place to fool your eye into thinking it’s a real broadcast, and push your skills to play the game the way it’s meant to be played. No baseball game has come close to delivering a complete package like this game does.
Andrew Reiner · Mar 02, 2010 Reviewed on PS3 - Once again MLB 10: The Show demonstrates what a AAA sports title can do. There are a myriad of game modes, from Home Run Derby to Manager Mode, the ever present Franchise Mode, and the crown jewel of them all, Road to the Show… each offering a plethora of customization options. It's wonderful to be able to tweak the experience to exactly your preferred style of play and the number of ways that can be done is simply staggering. As per the last few years, The Show is not merely the best baseball game this year, but is the best baseball game ever released.
