  • There are little complaints on both ends, but none of them make the games uninteresting. That being said, there are long loading times afoot and games are a little on the darker side of things. If you have an eye for detail and are in for terrific time, then both 2033 and Last Night are journeys worth having.

  • There is no big reason not to get Metro on Switch. It holds up fine, looks good enough even when being displayed on a TV, and is perfectly playable on a controller. If the Switch is someone's main console, Metro Redux is a phenomenal bundle that suffers negligible drawbacks from its port. Anyone who is a fan of survival horror or linear FPS games with good stories should consider Metro Redux to be a must-play, and the Switch is as good a place as any other to pick it up.

  • Metro Redux made me fall in love with the atmosphere and world of Metro, and I definitely recommend you check out both Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light. The only caveat to this is that I'm not sure the Switch is the best place to do it. This is a wonderful port that has a lot going for it, but it’s still probably the worst version of the game unless you're determined to play in Handheld Mode despite the lighting issues that come with doing so, or you really love gyro controls.

  • Metro Redux on the Nintendo Switch doesn't bring anything totally new to these much-loved titles, but it's surprisingly entertaining to play Metro 2033 and Last Light out and about.

  • These are two of the most atmospheric games you'll likely play set in a beautifully detailed depiction of post-apocalyptic Russia. 4A Games has delivered a port that stands shoulder to shoulder with Alien: Isolation as the very best we've seen on Switch so far – an almost flawless experience which should absolutely be right at the top of any FPS or survival horror fan's must-buy list. This is essential stuff.

  • If you’ve never played Metro 2033 or Metro Last Light before, consider Metro Redux on Switch a mandatory purchase. You deserve it. And if you’ve already played these games but fancy having them available on the go, be aware that they’re perhaps not best played in handheld mode in broad daylight, but don’t let it totally put you off.

  • 2033 isn’t unplayable, but if I can’t comfortably play the game on the go than I would rather grab it on one of the other consoles instead. While the games themselves are fairly solid, nothing about them stands out quite enough to warrant purchasing them again unless you are a die hard fan of the franchise. Given that Metro Exodus only released last year and follows as a direct sequel to Last Light, your money might be better spent jumping into the latest entry in the series than revisiting something 10 years old.

  • Regardless of whether you’re hankering for a revisit to the post-apocalyptic remains of Russia, or you’re itching to experience these modern classics for the first time, Metro Redux on the Switch is an easy game to recommend. Is it the best version of the game? Not quite, no, due to the Switch’s inherent limitations- but it comes closer to that mark than many would have thought it would, and that’s an impressive achievement in and of itself.

  • The Metro Redux edition is a compilation of two solid FPS games. Whether you feel like reliving Artyom’s story for a second time or experiencing it for the first time, you will not be disappointed. It's clear that 4A Games knows what their fans want and have delivered a product worthy of next-gen gaming. If you have not played either of these games, I highly recommend them.

  • In Metro Redux you get a complete package of one of the most under appreciated series of the last generation. ...Metro Redux puts together survival horror and survival action in such a well presented first person package, that if you’re a fan of any of them then this is for you. A solid story, an interesting cast of characters, and two games that make you panic in a good way. It’s worth the price of entry.

    About the game

In 2013 the world was devastated by an apocalyptic event, annihilating almost all mankind and turning the Earth's surface into a poisonous wasteland. A handful of survivors took refuge in the depths of the Moscow underground, and human civilization entered a new Dark Age. The year is 2033. An entire generation has been born and raised underground, and their besieged Metro Station-Cities struggle for survival, with each other, and the mutant horrors that await outside. You are Artyom, born in the last days before the fire, but raised underground. Having never ventured beyond the city limits, one fateful event sparks a desperate mission to the heart of the Metro system, to warn the remnants of mankind of a terrible impending threat.
