  • The initial thrill is sizable, but once it tapers off, Mega Man 11 reveals itself to just be a good game, not a great one. There’s no shame in that; I’m just grateful the blue bomber is back. I’d hoped for something that better balanced the old-school with innovation after all this time, but that isn’t something the series has generally been known for. The familiarity is comforting in many ways, so for those with nostalgic interest, I recommend the physical amiibo edition with some cool extras.

  • Mega Man 11 is a decent, if not game-changing addition to the series. Although it takes some bits away, it balances itself out by including a few fun changes in gameplay. It may not be revolutionary by modern standards, but it doesn't have to be. Mega Man is time and time again a simple and fun, pick up and play series -- and Mega Man 11 paves the way for future entries.

  • Capcom didn’t meet my expectations with this game – they far exceeded them. Featuring a delightful combination of fresh new graphics, wonderfully classic gameplay, and a new mechanic that manages to be both fun and helpful while also remaining unobtrusive, Mega Man 11 is an absolute must-have for franchise fans (and everyone else, too). Eight years may have been a heck of a hiatus, but Mega Man 11 proves that good things come to those who wait. Long live the Blue Bomber!

  • Mega Man 11 is a blast, no pun intended. It might be a bit short, but it’s very fun and quite challenging while it lasts, as well as greatly replayable. This is a true return to form; a game that updates its gameplay with new modern elements without forgetting what made the series special in the first place. If that’s a sign of how future Mega Man endeavors are going to be from now on, I can sleep with ease at night.

  • Mega Man 11 is the convergence point for Mega Man and Mega Man X. This is important, because fans have been longing for new games for a while now. It might also satisfy the curiosity of non-fans who want to see what the legendary franchise is all about. But for fans of platformers in general, with no specific predilection for Mega Man, the game might be lacking.

  • Whilst not quite the best in the series, Mega Man 11 hits the spot. The game does a good job at modernizing the Blue Bomber’s latest adventure, and although the few subtle changes may not be for everyone, I have to commend the game for being widely accessible at the same time as respecting its hardcore roots. Despite its issues, this is a must have for Mega Man newcomers and returning fans alike.

  • Capcom came back strong with Mega Man 11. The bosses are all memorable, the platforming is tough and rewarding, and the new Double Gear System turns the classic formula into a fresh new experience.

  • Longtime Mega Man enthusiasts may scoff at the idea of expanded difficulty options, but their inclusion doesn’t mean the game isn’t still aimed directly at the hardcore fans. Mega Man 11 delivers an old-school Mega Man experience with some newer graphics and gameplay features to keep things feeling fresh, and while it falls just shy of its predecessors in some regards, it should still please fans and newcomers alike.

  • Whether you’re a fan of the franchise or not, I would highly recommend Mega Man 11. For those who are as diehard as they come, there’s no better way to upgrade your Nintendo Switch into a fully-fledged Mega Man machine than to top it off with this wonderfully formed little cherry bomb of a sequel.

  • Mega Man 11 is one of the rare instances where I’m forced to ask myself, is this a perfect game? Unfortunately, the answer is no, but it’s still pretty damn close. The Power Gear ability, for instance, is rarely as useful as it’s Speed Gear counterpart. I barely used it at all, to be honest. There is also a disappointing lack of Protoman or Bass, two fan-favourite characters that we haven’t seen enough of in recent years.

About the game

Mega Man is back! The newest entry in this iconic series blends classic, challenging 2D platforming action with a fresh look. The stunning new visual style refreshes the series' iconic colorfulness, combining hand-drawn environments with detailed, 3D character models. To save the day, the Blue Bomber must battle Robot Masters and take their powerful weapons for himself, which now changes the hero’s appearance with new levels of detail. The innovative new Double Gear system lets you boost Mega Man's speed and power for a new twist on the satisfying gameplay the series is known for. A variety of difficulty modes makes this the perfect opportunity to experience Mega Man for the first time!
