  Ironically, Mars 2120 lacks the interconnectivity in level design that the best metroidvanias boast, yet but I still often found myself lost due to a lack of a clear indication about where to go next. There are times when Mars 2120 switches from a 2D perspective to a 3D one — which looks interesting and shakes things up — but can also lead to some confusing platforming. It already feels a bits floaty and imprecise, so this lack of clarity and direction only adds to the overall sense that this key aspect of play is unsatisfactory.

  Mars 2120 has some interesting ideas on display, but those are held back by its inability to nail the fundamentals satisfactorily. Throw in really bad balance issues and some incredibly annoying foes, and you’re left with a Metroidvania that is anything but a must-play.

  MARS 2120 has some great ideas and executes them well, but the lack of story and some technical issues on the Nintendo Switch sadly hold back the rest of the experience. That being said, the soundtrack is great, the combat works well and some of the visuals are stunning, so there will be a market for any metroidvania fans who enjoy these elements of the genre!

  Tenere conto del background da cui viene Qubyte è un conto; un altro è valutare il gioco nel contesto in cui arriva, e purtroppo Mars 2120, per quanto sicuramente sia stato un buon risultato per chi l’ha creato, non colpisce particolarmente se confrontato ad altre recenti produzioni a basso budget. È un gioco che si lascia giocare e che non è mai brutto da farti smettere, ma al tempo stesso grafica non accattivante, boss bruttarelli e storia quasi assente lo obbligano a restare ben lontano dalle vetta delle classifiche.

  Mars 2120 undeniably borrows heavily from the progenitor of the genre it aspires to emulate. Metroid hallmarks are here--along with a few interesting twists and setpieces--but are held back by some finicky issues and a rushed power creep.

  Sadly, MARS 2120 is one of the odd titles that contradict itself with good promises but ultimately fails when it comes to execution, which happens to be controls and a sense of direction when it comes to later levels. However, it is still an enjoyable title, and as I mentioned, the developers are keen on listening to feedback. If you are interested in 2D metroidvanias with shoot ‘em up elements, MARS 2120 might be a title you should look up to get.

  MARS 2120 tem potencial para um bom jogo e até tem sucesso nos visuais e na versatilidade das ferramentas, mas problemas de execução e um lançamento com aspecto precoce o impedem de, no estado atual, alcançar a média em um meio tão prolífico como os metroidvanias de hoje em dia.
