- Die-hard fans of Mario RPGs have a lot of content to sink their teeth into with Mario & Luigi: Brothership, but it’s a hard sell to anyone else.
· Jan 04, 2025 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Mario & Luigi: Brothership is a role-playing game with a compelling combat system, beautiful graphics, and catchy melodies. While the blanketing narrative comes off as assertively obnoxious with interminable conversations mixed with a tiresomely obtuse progressive system, the flow of the game and everything in between is just peachy.
Nay Clark · Nov 18, 2024 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - This sequence is surprising, creative, and, most importantly, unambiguously hilarious. And someone on the Acquire development team clearly knew that they were on to something with it, as the game heroically stretches the joke out for about 10 minutes. It’s a shame, then, that the bit doesn’t last even longer. Certainly that would have given Brotherhood a chance to say something interesting about, well, brothership. It would’ve been funnier too.
Mitchell Demorest · Nov 17, 2024 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - By Mario RPG standards, this is not one of the better ones, particularly when it comes to the pacing, design, and story. What saves Mario & Luigi: Brothership from sinking completely is the strategically engaging and fun battle system, delightful animations that go hand-in-hand with the cartoony art style, and the excellent soundtrack. Other gameplay ideas miss their target, and things become a drag far too quickly.
Rubén E. Castillo A. · Nov 14, 2024 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Mario & Luigi: Brothership is an exciting, albeit imperfect adventure that brings the Mario Bros. to a whole new world. There is plenty to see and do and it is well worth taking the time to slow down and immerse yourself in this brand new adventure.
Κωστας Παπαμητρου · Nov 08, 2024 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Mario & Luigi: Brothership is well made and has some great ideas, but in breaking free of its handheld limitations, it becomes too ambitious for its own good.
Steve Watts · Nov 06, 2024 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - When all is said and done, Mario & Luigi: Brothership isn’t a bad game; it’s just too much of a decent thing. If it had restraint and its pacing was planned better, it could have been the best in the series. Its transition from a strictly handheld platform to consoles is a great one, putting the additional horsepower to good use.
