  • Machinarium is an award-winning point-and-click adventure game set in a surreal robotic world, developed by famous Czech studio Amanita Design.

  • Machinarium may be simple in concept, but just like other point-and-click puzzle games, the solution can be a bit mind bending. I do very much appreciate that there is an option to help you find the solution. No one wants to throw a controller across the room simply because they didn’t think to add a magnet to a fishing rod in order to tank a dog across a river.

  • On its surface, Machinarium is a very simple game that is expertly crafted in such a way that it draws into a far deeper world than you might expect. It has cute characters populating breathtaking imaginary places, with puzzles that challenge you to think a bit differently.

  • While this incarnation of Machinarium doesn’t offer anything different from the other versions already out there, it’s still a fine port of an award-winning point-and-click adventure. Even after nine years, Amanita Design’s brilliant little odyssey still looks, plays and feels fresh thanks to a quirky soundtrack, those instantly recognisable hand-drawn visuals and an approach to environmental puzzles that strikes the right balance between obtuse and tantalisingly obvious.

  • Even with small issues like that, Machinarium remains fun and engaging throughout its entire runtime. If you haven’t taken the plunge now would be a great time to do so. The updated PC version is free for previous owners, but any new comers can pick it up and be introduced immediately to those changes.

  • If you're looking for a game that respects your intelligence and comes equipped with a unique style and setting, or if you're looking for something different than the typically score-oriented, money-grubbing games found on iOS, Machinarium is a must-have. The price is even rather inexpensive for this type of game. So what are you waiting for?

Machinarium begins and ends without a single word being spoken but is able to elicit feelings of amusement and tenderness for its peculiar cast. Its puzzles are logical enough that they’re never cheap or frustrating, but challenging and varied enough that they’re rewarding. A charming and brilliantly designed point and click adventure; if anything, it’s over too soon.

  • Those quibbles are small blemishes in an inventive and endearing adventure that will have you rooting for the good guy and sneering at the bullies that have caused him so much trouble and heartache. Machinarium, much like its personable protagonist, has a big heart and a plucky attitude that will win you over. Like the best games in the genre, it will excite your eyes and ears, but more importantly, it will stimulate your psyche

  • Machinarium’s distinct visual style and seamless animations are etched with a staggering level of detail, and few games come close to possessing the sheer beauty found here. Each setting and the peculiar robotic characters populating this futuristic land is brimming with dark personality. Seeing how different areas of the game, the characters, and the plot itself connect in surprising, circular ways makes the journey all the more wondrous.

Machinarium is a must-play for point-and-click fans. It hearkens back to the early days of the genre with a brutal level of difficulty that will keep you puzzled for hours. This difficulty is also the game's weakness, though, and some players will be frustrated when they just want to explore this fascinating world. But it is visually stunning, has some of the best audio you'll ever hear in a game, and is surprisingly emotional. Just come ready for a challenge.
