- With Tetsuya Mizuguchi’s often bland musical experimentation replaced with some of electronica’s finest moments, Electronic Symphony breathes new life into a series that had previously appeared stagnant.
Edge Staff · Mar 05, 2012 Reviewed on Vita - Like most Vita titles, Lumines Electronic Symphony is a bit pricey at $39.99. In fact, those of us who remember getting a complimentary copy of Tetris with our GameBoys feel doubly shafted. But if you dig electronic music and can ignore the neutered multiplayer, you might actually still be playing Lumines Electronic Symphony when the Vita's successor comes along.
Josh Engen · Feb 28, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Even with the frustrating — and completely optional — touch controls and lack of an online multiplayer mode, Lumines Electronic Symphony is the best in the series. With stunning visuals, immersive audio and addictive gameplay, it's an ideal buy for newcomers and puzzle veterans alike.
Nathan Michalik · Feb 24, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - So, yes, it's another Lumines. But it's also the most successful crack at the whip since the original game, and for the first time in a long time the soundtrack feels like it's been properly mulled over. While it's clear Q Entertainment perfected the game's formula on their very first try, this iteration of the neon-lit puzzler is so charming and elegantly formed you'd be a fool to say no.
Martin Gaston · Feb 22, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - The original game's Puzzle mode, in which you were challenged to create various shapes from the falling blocks, is unfortunately absent, but Lumines: Electronic Symphony is still very much a complete package. The asking price of $39.99 ($35.99 if you download it) might seem steep, but months from now when you're looking to enjoy 30 seconds or multiple hours at a time with your Vita, Lumines: Electronic Symphony will still have you covered.
Justin Calvert · Feb 21, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - This visually stunning and superbly sounding game has all the elements to be considered a must own for Vita owners. Those fans of Tetris who are going to be Vita owners will absolutely want to pick this one up. The only drawbacks as I see it would be the lack of a guided tutorial, and finicky touch controls, otherwise you really cannot go wrong with this one.
Trevor Houston · Feb 19, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - The main attraction here is the continuous-play Voyage mode, which stitches together the music and backdrops into a long remix as you clear stages. Apart from this, the selection of modes is about what you'd expect, with time trials, master boards to clear, and a head-to-head mode playable via local connections.
Game Trailers · Feb 17, 2012 Reviewed on Vita - Lumines is a high-quality experience that just about earns its $40 price tag, even though it's a little hard to shake the notion that some of the previous installments appeared as downloadable games at downloadable prices. The quality of the music and skin design should be enough to squash any doubts created by a price disparity, though, so if you're a Vita owner who likes a good puzzle game, bring the Electronic Symphony into your life as soon as you're able.
Jeff Gerstmann · Feb 16, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - The way I see it, everyone already loves Lumines, so this review serves no one, especially when you consider that Electronic Symphony is the best one yet with its gorgeous high-resolution visuals, rocking soundtrack, new gameplay mechanics, and awesome connectivity features. No Vita should be sold without a copy of this game.
Dale North · Feb 14, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Lumines: Electronic Symphony is the best Lumines yet, the music is incredible, the new modes and features are a nice touch, and it looks gorgeous and vibrant on the Vita’s OLED screen (a theme among all Vita games, it seems). It’s a must have for anyone who enjoyed it on the PSP (or on any platform), and I couldn’t recommend it more highly as a PlayStation Vita launch title. You can’t go wrong with this purchase.
