- Adding so much as to be a little intimidating at first, LBP2 brings a slew of impressive new creator features, while still offering plenty of cool new things for those who just want to play. The basic, flawed platforming of the original is still there, but compared to the possibilities LBP2 opens up, it’s insignificant.
Mikel Reparaz · Jun 24, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - LittleBigPlanet 2 evolves the series to a point that could not have been achieved with the tools given in the first title. Expansive new creative tools including programmable AI, new gameplay elements, and an even more streamlined interface make LittleBigPlanet 2 a small step for Sackboy, but a giant leap forward for all gamers.
Amanda L. Kondolojy · Jan 18, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - LittleBigPlanet 2 isn't really a newly discovered sphere humming in the cosmos. It's more along the lines of a dwarf planet being upgraded to a real one. Blurring the line between game and application, Media Molecule still manages to keep it fun. It's clumsy at times, but its huge potential to amaze and amuse will have you sampling from the burlap buffet until the next version hits.
Game Trailers · Jan 18, 2012 Reviewed on PS3 - There’s a wealth of entertainment to be had with LittleBigPlanet 2 – it’s a game like no other and with no equal in terms of the flexibility it offers to gamers. It boils down to this: if you liked the first game and want more, get the second – it’s bigger and better in every way and absolutely deserves a place in your PS3.
nofi · Jan 18, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - LittleBigPlanet 2's controls leave a bit to be desired, but the game is so charming that it's begging to be played anyway. The main story is pretty short, but the player-created levels will offer near-endless supply of Sackboy experiences. The level creation tools, with their new additions, are so vast and easy to use that you might even wind up creating a few levels yourself.
Susan Arendt · Jan 27, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - The tool upgrades given to creators in LittleBigPlanet 2 are enough to make the game feel pretty fresh, making the game worthwhile even if you never actually delve into the creation mode yourself. But if you've got a great level idea burning a hole in your brain, and don't mind putting in a grip of time to get it just right, you'll find the tools to be pretty accommodating once you learn how they all work.
Jeff Gerstmann · Jan 26, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - This isn't just a superbly presented game that incorporates multiple genres and comes packaged with a powerful creation suite, it's your doorway into a wonderfully charming, vibrant, and ever-changing universe where almost anything is possible. Even if you're not interested in designing and creating games yourself, LittleBigPlanet 2 is not to be missed.
Justin Calvert · Jan 24, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - As a game, LittleBigPlanet 2 is a fun, more accessible sequel that entertains from start to finish with a flurry of creative new ideas. Anyone even moderately adept with a DualShock controller will have a good time, but hardcore gamers may find that the campaign is a little bit too much like a walk in the park. The real depth comes from the creation utilities, and anyone drawn in by the wealth of features is likely to be investing tens if not hundreds of hours here.
Tom Orry · Jan 13, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - LittleBigPlanet 2 is a special game that entertains effectively, and does nothing less. Playing together with friends, and enjoying the unrestrained power of man’s creativity is a sight to behold. LittleBigPlanet 2 has good flavor, and charms in the most memorable of ways. It’s fun, will outlast this generation with content, and houses the most accessible editing tools on the market. If there’s one game that can make a bad day good, Sackboy and his latest venture with LittleBigPlanet 2 is it.
Jonathan Leack · Jan 11, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - And for all the fascinating flexibility of its toolset, clearly this is still a framework: you can stamp a creation with your own style, but the overall vibe will ultimately be Media Molecule’s. For those who are happy to embrace it, though, LBP2 represents a dazzling new opportunity for creating deep, diverse and ingenious play.
