- Little Deviants may exist to showcase the various elements of the Vita’s hardware, but it also showed me completely new ways a video game can be played, and on a handheld no less. Fitness titles notwithstanding, I am more impressed by what the Vita can do than what motion controls offer on consoles. Sure, some of the controls are used too often and get repetitive, but what is most important is that I had fun playing this game; and that is why we play games right, to have fun?
Shad Forsyth · Mar 21, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Of course, if you're looking for a game that will keep you engaged for the duration and coming back for more, you might want to look elsewhere. While some very enjoyable minigames are on offer, there just aren't enough of them. With little to come back to other than chasing a higher score, the experience ultimately turns out to have more style than substance — and one that's not going to appeal to everyone.
Corbie Dillard · Feb 20, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - At the end of the day, Little Deviants is an entertaining minigame collection, and it never tries to be more than that. It's certainly a lot of fun when you are still experiencing that warm fuzzy feeling after unboxing the brand new Vita, but I'm pretty sure that six months down the road, we'll be remembering the more substantial Vita titles like Uncharted and WipEout 2048 instead.
Josh Wirtanen · Feb 15, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Bottom line, Little Deviants is a good game. If anything it brings to mind numerous iPhone and iPad titles we've seen over the years. Thing is, none of those games cost $29.99 individually, and would probably not cost more than $6.99 in one package. As it stands, this game doesn't have what it takes to compete against Vita's better offerings, but if you give it a chance (and have the money to burn), it does the job.
Chris Buffa · Feb 15, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Little Deviants is a good game, or rather, a collection of mini-games ranging from meh to great, averaging out as just “good”. They’re all built to show off the Vita’s unique feature-set, and in that respect, it’s a success. But the lack of depth and overall variety and longevity make Little Deviants feel more like a $9.99 PSN title over a retail title. Sony should have realized this, and made this a pack-in with every Vita system sold to increase the value of both the game and the system, and it would serve well to show off the Vita’s functionality.
Anthony Severino · Feb 14, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Overall, this collection feels like it's held back by the need to incorporate the different features of the Vita, ultimately over complicating a package that would have benefited from some simplification. It’s a shame that the few truly gratifying games are overshadowed by a majority that feel like thrown-together tech demos. It’s commendable that Little Deviants attempted so many different control schemes with the Vita, but it’s a hard sell when there are other, more enjoyable, launch games.
Game Trailers · Feb 13, 2012 Reviewed on Vita - The novelty of using the various Vita control schemes is a fun reason to play Little Deviants, but score chasing generates most of the game's lasting appeal. The Deviants themselves add little to the package; their generic brand of wackiness and the insipid looping soundtrack are easy to ignore and mute, respectively. Though there are a few misses, most of the games here provide enough entertainment value to make Little Deviants a solid way to put your shiny new Vita through its paces.
Chris Watters · Feb 13, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - As the first title in a new franchise, Little Deviants is certainly an impressive effort and should keep players entertained for a few weeks at least. Beyond that it’ll probably be forgotten, though we’ve got the feeling there’s still a lot more to come from these mischievous aliens.
Steven Williamson · Feb 13, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - It’s not to say that Little Deviants is a poor game, because it isn’t. It’s a decent piece of (admittedly overpriced) software. And its pretty, vivid graphics and surprisingly catchy old-school inspired soundtrack certainly please aesthetically. But a strong hook doesn’t exist. To earn gold medals in any activity, you have to be virtually flawless in your execution, something that’s frustrating to accomplish on any motion-based control scheme, nonetheless ones that don’t work as well as others.
Colin Moriarty · Feb 13, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Considering its aggressive use of Vita’s bells and whistles, Little Deviants was probably a good choice to include in Sony’s bundle for early adopters. It certainly proves that the system’s various control methods can be successfully implemented on a technical level, but that doesn’t excuse the lack of substance when it comes to the content.
