- The game performed well on my Series X, the artwork, music and voice acting is of the usual high caliber and fans of the universe will find this entry as enjoyable to play as any of the others that have gone before it.
Harm0nica · Apr 29, 2022 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Life Is Strange: True Colors paints a pretty picture, creating a story you’ll really want to invest in, with only a slow plot point or two distracting from what is otherwise a great work of art.
Laura Cress · Dec 22, 2021 Reviewed on PC, PS4Read full review - Despite a few abrupt time skips and scene jumps, Alex’s story is one worth hearing; it culminates in a captivating climax, even if the resolution pulls its punches a bit. Color me eager to see more Life is Strange titles come to the Switch in the coming months.
Jordan Rudek · Dec 20, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Overall, Life Is Strange: True Colors is such a good quality story that its technical shortcomings can be forgiven. This isn’t the best platform for the game, and players who really care about a top quality graphical experience will likely want to turn to another device.
Rob Gordon · Dec 15, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Life is Strange: True Colors is the best game in the series so far, without a doubt. The town of Haven Springs is full of excellent characters, with Alex Chen herself being one of the best protagonists we’ve seen in some time. The game does suffer from some pretty severe visual downgrades with the Switch release, and some of the additional minigames left us feeling a bit cold. Nevertheless, developer Deck Nine has crafted a fantastic narrative that you’ll be eager to see through to the very end.
Ollie Reynolds · Dec 09, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Life is Strange: True Colours features what really matters in a Life is Strange game: a likeable protagonist and a brilliant setting. It’s also received a massive visual upgrade this time around, which really makes the town of Haven Springs feel cosy, somewhere you want to spend your time. There are a few technical hitches and there probably isn’t as much choice as players might expect, but it’s still a wonderful evolution of the series.
Aaron Bayne · Sep 29, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - The latest of Life is Strange games gives you, as expected, another story with depth and great moral choices. The graphics and the music are very good and show the craftsmanship of the studio behind the series. The addition of the usage of an in-game phone brings even more depth and background story than usual, and aside from choices that sometimes lack a proper branching narrative, it’s still a great game to play.
Pimp Without The Pee · Sep 23, 2021 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Lingering gripes aside, Life is Strange: True Colors is Deck Nine’s best work to date and I’d place it just behind the original brace of games. It’s more streamlined, has no “fail” states, and doesn’t delve quite as deeply into the supporting cast, but the story is compelling, the pacing brisk, it throws in several enjoyable gameplay diversions, and offers an incredible audio-visual experience that complements every other element.
Andrew Logue · Sep 22, 2021 Reviewed on PC, PS5, Series X|S, PS4, XB1Read full review - True Colors is a worthy continuation of the franchise. Releasing all the episodes at the same time was a good call, since you can go through the story in one sitting, offering around 8 hours’ worth of emotional journey. It is not perfect, and it would have deserved a more elaborate ending.
Cosmin Vasile · Sep 19, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - If you were already a fan of Life is Strange, then Haven Springs is absolutely worth a visit. True Colors doesn’t introduce much new, but it continues the series' strongest points in a powerful new story that’s sure to have you chasing it down until the very end. And while the PlayStation 5 performance left a lot to be desired, it didn’t discount the experience enough to stop me from playing. Alex Chen will have a place in my heart for a good while.
