- For those creative types, Lego 2k Drive allows for them to build some truly wild vehicles. These come in 3 varieties; racing, off-road and boat and each can be customized with various Lego parts. As players progress the story, they will unlock various parts to customize their vehicles, but for those of us who just want to drive something cool the game offers a ton of blueprints of premade cars that just require resources to construct.
Terrence Johnson · Jun 13, 2023 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - With its vibrant visuals, addictive gameplay, and familiar Lego theme, Lego 2K Drive is a must-play for Lego enthusiasts and racing aficionados. There are a few missteps and they might have borrowed heavily from other arcade racers, but overall, I highly recommend this game for anyone looking for a fun and engaging open-world racing experience.
Jake Plant · Jun 12, 2023 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Lego 2K Drive is an interesting experiment that takes just enough from the likes of Burnout Paradise and Forza Horizon to be interesting, but is held back by poor rubberbanding, a downright predatory in-game economy, and a grindy world.
James Bentley · Jun 07, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Lego 2K Drive provides an entertaining setting that will have older players reminiscing about playing with Lego in their backyards, whilst giving younger gamers a chance to experience the same thing in a virtual world. The almost fully destructible Lego environments allow players to drive unimpeded for the most part, cruising around Bricklandia at their own leisure, completing whichever quest they want.
William Thompson · Jun 06, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - LEGO 2K Drive's solid Story Mode is mainly undone by uneven pacing and the inability to play it online with friends. Add in the game's comprehensive vehicle builder, and it all leads to a solid debut for the 2K/LEGO partnership, even if the microtransactions can feel like stepping on a square LEGO brick.
Ozzie Mejia · May 31, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Lego 2K Drive is a racing game that so nearly reaches its potential, but it steps on a few stray bricks along the way. The core driving feels good, the Story mode has plenty to do, and the creation tools are legitimately impressive. However, it's let down by technical shortcomings, a lack of sharing options, and somewhat slimy monetization. The foundations of a really great arcade racer are here, but poor optimization in this Switch version and certain design decisions mean it's unlikely to overtake the competition.
Stephen Tailby · May 26, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - All in all, LEGO 2K Drive satisfies any craving for brick-racing that you may have had in the past with A+ class but still is rough around the edges because of its microtransaction system. Nonetheless, LEGO 2K Drive is an experience that can pride itself on being a game with visuals that match its vibrant personalities of characters and events throughout the world.
Gordon Bicker · May 26, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - The game runs well, it's got a wealth of content to work through, and there is a clear love for the Lego franchise that permeates everything from the game design to the maps themselves. Sure, outside of its build system, Lego 2K Drive isn't exactly trying to be innovative, but solid, fun gameplay more than makes up for a lack of ambition.
Lewis Parker · May 25, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - LEGO is all about taking pieces and connecting them together to build something new, so it's only fitting that LEGO 2K Drive combines parts from so many other great games; combining pieces of Mario Kart 8, Forza Horizon 5, Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed and the LEGO games of Traveler's Tales has resulted in a surprisingly high-quality racer. Sometimes last millisecond losses can feel a little bit cheap, and the building mechanics can feel a little bit daunting. Despite these minor issues, LEGO 2K Drive proves that there's still a lot of gas left in the tank for the LEGO brand, and brick fans of all-ages should drive away satisfied.
MARC DESCHAMPS · May 25, 2023 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - LEGO 2K Drive is a fun LEGO racing game, but it does feel a bit limited in scope and it plays things too safe. We enjoyed the overall gameplay loop and we loved the fact that we were able to create our own LEGO vehicles. Sadly, the game tries to be a jack-of-all-trades which eventually means that it doesn’t excel in anything it does. That being said, the game is still very amusing, especially when you can play it locally with a friend.
