  Kirby’s first outing on the Switch is a step down from his 3DS adventures. While its allies system isn’t as complex as I would have liked, complexity is not really what Kirby players are looking for. It’s hard to compete in the joy department on a system that already has Super Mario Odyssey, but Kirby Star Allies shares that good feeling throughout. Playing the game just makes you smile. It’s a great choice to share with friends even if they’re not normal gamers.

  If you have kids, Star Allies is as obvious a recommendation as they come- they will love to play it, either solo, or with you, and it will lead to some great times and memories for everybody. On the other hand, seasoned gamers and long time Kirby fans won't find much that is substantial here.

  Kirby Star Allies won’t bring any new fans to the series. It sticks to the tried-and-true gameplay strictures of the franchise for better and worse. Co-op is nice, and the HD visuals do bring Kirby’s world to life in a fresh way, but overall this is a totally by-the-book sequel that adds little of value other than a chance to play another Kirby game.

  Kirby Star Allies combines creative elements to present an outstanding adventure that offers very little challenge. The energetic stages and smart use of Kirby's powerful powers allowed for a journey that I couldn't put down. It won't please those seeking an intense adventure but Kirby Star Allies is a fun game that will make many gamers smile.

  Does Kirby Star Allies do anything radically new? No, not really. But it is a full-fledged console Kirby title, something many of us have sorely longed for. It’s a good single player experience to be sure, but truly comes into its own as a multi-player title. Like most things, Kirby Star Allies is just plain better with friends.

  Kirby Star Allies isn’t a bad game, but it’s also totally unremarkable, and those expecting it to be one of the best Switch games of 2018 will likely be disappointed. It’s best suited for someone looking for a relaxing, low stakes platformer or something to play with their kids. Everyone else will find its lack of challenge and repetitiveness to be real roadblocks to enjoying it for more than a couple of hours at a time, as the game becomes monotonous and boring during longer play sessions.

  If you're a Kirby enthusiast, you'll still probably really enjoy it, and it's a great game to buy for your kids or younger family members to play with them, but it's lacking in those big surprises and left-field unique elements that characterize Kirby at its best.  Kirby Star Allies is available now for Nintendo Switch.   Some Kirby fans will undoubtedly have hours of fun with Kirby Star Allies, while many others will be put off by what they might perceive as fairly bland gameplay. With friends and kids, this is a great game to play, but if you’re looking for a hardcore platformer or something that will challenge you, this frankly is not it.

  Kirby: Star Allies is an all-together pleasant game. Which is especially needed, both in the Nintendo Switch library and in the current climate of 2018. We need something simple and enjoyable that brings a smile to our faces. We need a game we can play with anyone we know, without worrying about possible barriers. It is a delight, and Switch owners will definitely appreciate adventuring with their buddy again.

  Kirby Star Allies is another solid addition to the Nintendo Switch, and it does everything it has to as a Kirby game, I just hope that in the future, Nintendo will try to expand upon what already makes Kirby so great as they have with titles like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey.
