  • Low-poly horror is all the rage it seems, but few titles pull it off as well as Janitor Bleeds. Smart pacing, clever use of mechanics, and an excellently crafted atmosphere combine to make a great indie horror title.

  • Overall, JANITOR BLEEDS manages to be quite refreshing on the horror game scene, despite its basic set-up being cliché and this graphical style being done to death lately. From its simple but engaging plot and a monster that actually manages to frighten the player to a short playtime, this game is a great little experience for any horror fan. Just hope you can still shut off the game when you’re done.

  • The lack of story and setup, and the weird nuances with some of the controls and parts of the game (like the flashlight turning on after puzzles) are really holding back this game from being great. The nostalgia is there in the graphics and the sound design, but seemingly having no purpose for doing what you are doing just really brings this down.

  • There’s so much good going for Janitor Bleeds, creating plenty of scares with its well-executed main concept of having to play an arcade game while stalked by a mysterious entity. Sadly, there are some flaws. I do wish the ending had a bit more going for it, the main story only lasted about an hour, and the token system is woefully underused.

  • There isn’t much that Janitor Bleeds really nails, which is the real shame. The concept itself is tantalizing enough, but the scares and the narrative needed more consideration. It neither subverts expectations nor does it execute standard horror cliches very well. It’s not a total wash, it just lands so consistently in the middle that it’s hard not to be disappointed.

  • It may be hard to imagine how a lo-fi survival horror would work, let alone offer some thrills, but JANITOR BLEEDS has the blood-soaked key to that lock. At its finest when it’s blurring the boundaries of reality and what constitutes a game, JANITOR BLEEDS knows exactly when to pull the rug from beneath you.

About the game

JANITOR BLEEDS is a retro-inspired horror game set in an old arcade. A mysterious arcade machine called JANITOR beckons you to play itself, releasing a horrible force upon the player. The only way to survive is to keep playing, but the further you go, the more the events of the arcade game start to influence the real world. When your eyes are glued to the screen, who knows what might be happening right behind your back?
