- Jagged Alliance 3 is a game long since thought lost to development hell, but thanks to Haemimont Games and THQ Nordic, it’s here. Very much a game out of time but none the worse for it for fans of the genre. It can be damned tough but when you get into a groove it’s fun. Not having the ability to toggle chance to hit is something we could do without though.
Ian · Nov 17, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Jagged Alliance 3 couples irreverent 80s action hero humor and turn-based combat in one of the best tactical RPGs I’ve played this year. It could use some slight optimization tweaks but is an otherwise great port from PC to consoles, including an excellent gamepad control scheme. It’s a game that sets the hook early and refuses to let go as the hours fade away.
Jason Dailey · Nov 15, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - The graphics and sound work well for the game and for those who are up for a challenge with a touch of nostalgia, Jagged Alliance 3 is an assignment you will be happy to have accepted.
gareth · Aug 04, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Overall, Jagged Alliance 3 is an impressive and endlessly entertaining production that not only revives an old series but does it justice in a more modern style. The story and characters make for another compelling entry in the series. Grand Chien is wholly believable as a vibrant nation, even though it’s non-existent. Combat is expertly converted to a 3-D environment, and there are so many strategic layers that it’s good to the last drop for the 50-ish hours it should take to complete.
Abraham Kobylanski · Aug 01, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Despite some minor issues with the camera and weapon variation, Jagged Alliance 3 is by far the best game in the series. It’s challenging, fun, and extremely addictive, so there’s absolutely no reason not to give it a try.
Cosmin Vasile · Jul 26, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - It’s an African former French colony making money through the foreign diamond trade. Most levels are in the sort of aluminum-siding slums you’ve seen a zillion times in this sort of action adventure. You’re not supposed to take much of it seriously; there isn’t a lot of nuance in the way you capture diamond mines from the locals to pay your merc salaries. There’s a character named Greasy Basil.
Jaina Hill · Jul 25, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - With all of that being said, Jagged Alliance 3 nails a lot of what it is trying to do. Gripes about financial pressure and perk points aside, the majority of gameplay is a ton of fun. It rewards tactical thinking, and with a skillful approach, you can watch your mercs absolutely rain hell down on a superior enemy force. Considerate use of special abilities and equipment is important as well, and rarely is any fight just an easy shootout. The execution isn't perfect, but Jagged Alliance 3 is simultaneously a love letter to the tactical games of old while also proving that their gameplay can still feel modern and fresh decades later.
Tony "OUberLord" Mitera · Jul 24, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Overall, Jagged Alliance 3 may come across as your standard military strategy game that tries to take itself a little too seriously, and it is, but the game has a lot more layers to it. The game gives you many choices that impact the story and offers players plenty of variety on weapons, mercenaries and playstyles. Pity about its soundtrack.
Daman Shelley · Jul 20, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Jagged Alliance 3 is an excellent game, merging squad-based tactics and classic computer-style roleplaying in an entertaining veneer of cheesy action movies. There's a little bit of a learning curve to get acclimated to this style of game if you are new to it, but once you get the hang of managing your mercs, money, and ammo, there's a lot of fun to be had in the tropics.
Adam Vitale · Jul 16, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Genre stalwarts, such as overwatch and defensive position, aren't going anywhere, but the layers on top of all that are where Jagged Alliance 3 most proves its worth. Finally, I've found the type of one-more-turn game I've been looking for. I was challenged by it in the most satisfying ways: planning, leadership, and patience. Despite the flaws, I wanted to see the campaign through from the opening encounter, and I felt rewarded for that. To sum it up: Jagged Alliance is back.
