- But ultimately Iron Man falls flat as an arcade shooter because it's sacrificed the need for any kind of dexterity or quick-thinking. It fails even more as a franchise game, because the character has so much more to offer than a bunch of big explosions and an enormous body count.
Total Xbox · May 26, 2008 Reviewed on X360 - Iron Man has its occasional bright spots, but the gameplay fluctuates between monotony and frustration. With technical meltdowns, unsightly visuals, and a jumbled plot line, there are more than enough reasons to leave this junker on the scrap heap.
Game Trailers · May 12, 2008 Reviewed on PS3 - To be fair to SEGA and developer Secret Level Iron Man isn't an awful game; it's just a long way from the level my expectations had been raised to. After the movie turned out to be such good fun, the game landed with a heavy thud, failing to offer anywhere near the same level of enjoyment.
Tom Orry · May 09, 2008 Reviewed on PS3, X360Read full review - Iron Man makes a decent opening argument against the just-another-movie-game stigma. However, by smacking you with a punishing difficulty spike instead of striving for more complex mission structures, it sacrifices most of the goodwill it garners in the early going. Completing the game is a frustrating trial with no substantial reward, and even sympathetic jurors will have a hard time ruling in its favor.
Chris Watters · May 08, 2008 Reviewed on PS3, X360Read full review - Drop players into situations where they have to do repetitive, meaningless tasks and then add respawning, overwhelming douchebags." That's a shame. Flying is fun, the upgrades are neat, and the game can look good. However, these pros are outweighed by the aforementioned frustration, crappy storyline and lame cutscenes. You never feel like Iron Man in this game, and if you're like me, you never feel like you're having fun.
GREG MILLER · May 05, 2008 Reviewed on PC, X360Read full review - The repetitive missions, terrible story, and ugly cutscenes are not worth your hard earned cash! Additionally, there is no local multiplayer action nor is there an online component. Consequently, replayability of the title is almost nil! In other words, give the game a wide berth unless you really love action for action's sake.
Jonathan Marx · May 02, 2008 Reviewed on PS3, X360Read full review - Seriously at no time did this game display what the 360 was capable of. It felt like a lazy PS2 port (which it probably was). There are so many other games you could be spending your forty quid on - like GTA IV for example, or even saving up for a movie franchise game that actually does bring the feel and atmosphere of the film into the gameplay: The Bourne Conspiracy. Look out for our review of that and don’t waste your time with this.
Mike Bowden · May 09, 2008 Reviewed on PCRead full review - And so rather than allowing you to feel like an armoured avenger, Iron Man's videogame outing merely offers the chance to lurch awkwardly around the sky like a drunken wasp while holding down a button to blow stuff up. The idea that people might turn to this ham-fisted misfire in order to relive the boundless fun of the movie is quite depressing.
