  • If you really need a game with the sparse, bleak feel of a Norse epic, you’ll find that here. And definitely, for anyone who knows the Kalevala or spends inordinate amounts of time discussing different representations of mythology or old folklore in games, this is especially your game, and I’ll be wanting to talk to you about how the game represents Lowhee and Ilmarinen.

  • At first sight, the game looks completely unique compared to old fallout or other turn-based games. The plot is fairly unique, the audio is beautifully done, and did I mention, grade A voice acting. This game takes a new approach to turn-based action play with a “reversal” system that allows the player to optimize their decisions. You would think that would lower the level of difficulty, but this game cranks the difficulty up to a 10 out of 10. Even if you're a veteran gamer, you will have to adapt and learn the game.

  • I don’t mean to say that this game is inaccessible to newer gamers. Certainly, the low-stakes nature of it can accommodate them quite well. However, if you are a lover of RPG games such as Divinity: Original Sin 2, and are a frequent abuser of the quick-save button like me, you’ll find Iron Danger quite fun and refreshing.

  • Iron Danger is a compelling real-time tactics game that's held together by its core feature and a few interesting characters. Sadly, the story is bland other than a few interesting characters and while the core gameplay elements result in a strong tactical game, the controls frequently frustrate and impede the fun you can have.

  • Iron Danger feels like several different games smashed together, but also like no other game out there, and its tactical battles are a treat for any fan of, well, PC RPGs and tactics games. If we get another chance to explore its vast fantasy world, I will be in for that, too.

  • All things considered, Iron Danger is a great game. It may lack the sweeping epic scope of others and the marketing budget of a AAA game, but it lacks none of the quality. It’s a fun romp in fantasy Finland, setting stuff on fire and slinging spells left and right. It’s like 2001’s Achron that actually works!

  • The main selling points of Iron Danger are the Norse mythology influenced story line and unique time bending based strategy combat system. The developers decision to focus on these two key aspects of the game has paid off in spades and it’s made for a focused and fulfilling experience. Fans of both action and turn based strategy games should not miss Iron Danger when it releases on Steam on March 25th.

  • Iron Danger is as charming as it's filled with environmental traps and time crimes. Also, you heal when you enter a sauna.

  • Iron Danger isn’t perfect, nor is it the best dungeon crawler out there, but it is incredibly unique. Sure, time reversal isn’t exactly a new feature in gaming, but Iron Danger’s take on it feels fresh and very different to anything out on the market right now. That fact alone makes it worth a purchase, especially if you crave something new.

  • It is really based around one core concept, and however far that concept takes you is how much mileage you'll get out of it. Jumping back and forth through time using mechanics reminiscent of audio or video editing software can be a unique tactical puzzle. That said, Iron Danger lacks the polish or depth to appeal much beyond that interesting concept. A lot of people will have fun with Iron Danger, but I could also see it being a game that many load up and ultimately bounce off of.

    About the game

Iron Danger is a tactical combat game with a unique time manipulation mechanic—a never before seen combination that blends the tactical depth of turn-based games with the exciting action of real-time games. Tackle challenging encounters with your party of two characters, using a variety of skills and highly interactive environments. Maybe you'll light an enemy on fire and kick them into a grain field for a proper barbeque, or set up a trap and fell a tree on top of them. The options are endless, and you're the one in charge!
