- Into the Breach is the port of a fantastic sci-fi strategy roguelike by the developers of Faster Than Light.
JBMessin · Jan 02, 2023 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Into the Breach is a game of epiphanies and triumphs just like that one. By limiting the size of maps and the number of units and actions you have, it avoids ever becoming overwhelming, while still giving you a wide-enough possibility space that your path forward is full of potential, rather than feeling preordained.
Edmond Tran · Jul 25, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Into the Breach is beyond essential, and the iOS version is almost everything I wanted in a mobile port. I hope potential future updates can add cloud syncing across devices and even haptic feedback. While the latter is more of a want than a need, cloud progress syncing is important in a game like this.
Mikhail Madnani · Jul 21, 2022 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Into The Breach is a brutal, uncompromising game of making hard decisions and living with your mistakes, but the short length of battles and endless variety of playthroughs makes for an extremely addictive experience. Though the graphics are nothing special, the gameplay is some of the very best you’ll find in the strategy genre on the Switch, and we can easily recommend this to anybody who’s looking for an in-depth game that’ll make you think.
Mitch Vogel · Sep 04, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - All in all, Into the Breach is a challenging but rewarding game that begs to be played by those who enjoy strategy and tactics games. The game can be enjoyable for more casual players, too, but there is likely to be a fair bit of frustration, at least initially. As well, the basic gameplay itself doesn’t really change over the course of each run: guard buildings, kill Vek, and try not to die in the process.
Jordan Rudek · Aug 31, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Excellent art and music. String emphasis on strategy and player choice. Mechanics are easy to learn and hard to master. Adaptable difficulty. Being able to keep one pilot is a nice touch. Strong characters and worldbuilding. Lots of mechs to unlock and customize. Strong art and music combine with excellent mechanics and an emphasis on strategy and players choice to create one of the best strategy games in years.
Will Borger · May 02, 2018 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Into the Breach is one of those gems that will be talked about for the rest of 2018; a game that will come up in game of the year discussions and beyond, because it’s just that good. It came out of nowhere, making waves in all the right ways. Into the Breach shows that strategy games don’t need to do anything new because they can create some of the most memorable gaming experiences to be had if done correctly. Into the Breach is a game that is being played even when away from the computer, because it can’t help but fill the mind with possibility.
Spencer Rutledge · Mar 18, 2018 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Into the Breach is an excellent game for those who like their strategy games in short bursts. Each mission only takes a few minutes to complete, and the whole game can be taken in bite-sized quantities. Unfortunately, I don't think it's quite on the level of FTL in originality or execution.
Brittany Vincent · Mar 11, 2018 Reviewed on PCRead full review - I enjoyed my time with Into the Breach, and it's a great game to pick up and play for a few minutes at a time. I hope that it finds its way to mobile devices or the Nintendo Switch because it would be perfect for playing on the go. Each map only takes a few turns, and even when you lose its quick and easy to get back into the fray.
Jason Faulkner · Mar 11, 2018 Reviewed on PCRead full review - It’s a kick-ass retro turn-based strategy game that constantly flexes your brain muscles, and punishes your idiocy with a quick death. What it lacks in encounter diversity it makes up for with an excellent stable of mechs to play around with, a bad ass soundtrack, and a vibe that sucked me down the rabbit hole something fierce. It may not consume your whole year like FTL did, but Into The Breach is a tighter and more concentrated experience that’s well worth the money.
